Just had a rockin' round of 8-bit NES Golf the other day...

-12.png -12 Title Screen.png

I was at -13 under going into the last hole, but then hit a tee shot that resulted in an "OB" lie, but it was some sort of game glitch because I was still in bounds. Weird. Oh well, though. I then proceed to bogey the hole, bringing me to -12.

Yep, regular flex for a 90mph swing sounds about right!

That's one perspective...then again 2nd on the OWGR 3rd on the money list would make a strong argument for the contrary

Never noticed there was a golf thread on here..Nice..

I have played since I was 13, and am 24 now.. Played all 4 years in high school, and made 2 regional appearances as a team. Currently my handicap is around 9-10, but I shot 2 rounds at par this weekend in the skins game, so that should drop that down a bit.
My equipment:
Calloway FT-2 10.5 degree driver
A Wilson 3 wood that is 14 degrees that I bought at Walmart for $20 that I absolutely destroy off the tee, but couldn't hit from the fairway if you paid me
Adams Tightlies Air Assault 4 wood ( this is the club I hit from the fairway with lol) at 16 degrees
4-Pw are Calloway Steelheads from 2002. I've got about 2 years left in them before I retire them for good, but looking for a good deal in the meantime.
Cleveland 52 degree wedge with "zipper" technology..Marketing hype, as I don't get any more backspin then I already got, which was quite a bit to begin with.
Wilson Lob wedge, 60 degree..I F-in love this club. Only club I use from 30 yards into the green as I can hit every shot with it.
New putter this year is the Odessy XG Hawk..So far so good. My putts per round have gone down about 2-4 for 18 holes, so I call that a good investment.

Go Tiger or Anthony Kim in the British this week. And can't wait til Firestone, as I will be there with my weeklong pass again just like last year.

Nice bag of clubs you got there! I am aiming to get down to ten by the end of the summer. Had a good few weeks si I have dropped from 16 to 12 in that time (12.2 to be exact!)

The Open will be interesting next week. Hope Tiger wins his first major since his return, what a legend!

There is an open day in my club today so I hope to get to that this evening after work.

Playing the PGA National (http://www.palmerstownhouse.com/) on Friday, then the Captains Prize final round at my club on Sunday (got to keep my cool!!!)

You need a high swing speed to get use out of a stiff shaft. The snap in a graphite shaft is where all the power comes from, if you can't swing your club fast enough, the shaft won't bend so no snap into the ball resulting in a low shot . Also the snap is required to get the face back to square at impact, if you swing too slow the clubhead won't be able to get back fast enough resulting in a push. To be safe, MOST golfers should use Regular and/or stiff if you can swing quite hard. Xstiff is usually reserved for major distance hitters even among pros.

If you get a low degree driver you need a high swing speed in order to get the launch angle up high enough for the ball to get any distance.

Good luck! I hope Tiger wins too, this course suits him I think as he's usually quite good at links courses.

John Daly is doing well, -2 through 11, 6 pars, 2 bogeys, 2 birdies, and an eagle. Would like to see him do well. It seems like he's actually attempting to get his life put back together.

I have been to the range a few times and hit a couple of buckets but haven't played on a course yet since when I hit it, I never know where it's going to land...lol. I am to start lessons next week so I def want to get out onto the links in a month or so.

So it looks like the cut line is going to be +5, if I understand the rules correctly and anyone within 10 shots of the leader makes the cut. Looks like this would mean there'd be about 110 people that make the cut. Am I correct in this, or is there a number cutoff? No really big names that look to miss the cut. Some older golfers like Greg Norman.

I can't imagine Steve Marino will stay in contention. A lot of players do well the first 2 rounds but falter when they have to play in the last group on the weekend. Also, one thing that annoys me about ESPN.com is the headline is "First-Timer Marino leads British Open" but it doesn't mention what First-Timer means in the article. First major? First British? First time leading? I don't know what it means.

That's the thing with links style courses, very easy to lose a ball. I'm playing at one next week and anticipate losing multiple balls. Nice comeback by Watson after having a 6 hole, 5 bogey streak. Might end up tied for the lead if he can get another birdie.

Yep, did you see his drive? It pushed far right into knee high grass.

Bogeyed another one and is now sitting at +5...uh oh!
