I hope that I'm successful enough to have one of those moments in my acting career and not have to worry about it affecting my future in the business.

A Michael Richards incident didnt hurt the sales of a Jerry Seinfeld DVD.

I wonder what would have happened to sales if Jerry had made those comments? We'll never know.

You are right that controversy sells.

It affected Val Kilmers when he was highly in demand.

So did he really beat up his mom? Sounds like the guy can't control his emotions.. which is weird, because he's almost as stoic as Keanu Reeves in front of the camera.

Well I found out it is real, man I kinda lost some respect for him...I mean I didnt think he was that great of an actor to begin with but he was out of line blowing up like that.

And then didnt he get in trouble for domestic violence last year?

Guy needs some help.

Control freaks usually appear very "composed" and "together" until they lose it...then all hell breaks loose

My whole office just had a good laugh at it... I think it's hilarious!

You never know what happened on set and at times it sounds like the DP has messed up before... which could mean hours if not even days of re-shoots. I could understand if he was upset about that and just had to get it out.

He is nothing but a Diva...dude the only reason your movie is the 2nd highest grossed movie ever is because Heath Ledger died. The DP might have made a mistake on set, but there is NO way you should act like that...so pathetic...this is why filmmakers dislike the majority of actors out there.

What actually happened was that the DP walked in during the shoot and that set him off.

It is NOT a friqqin grip, it's the damn DP...His job is A LOT more important than his pretty boy self.

I know the majority of you have never worked on a film set. Things get high pressured. Everyone's looking to do their part and not screw up. Actors each have their own way of performing and dealing with things on set. Some can remain calm and reserved; others will lash out.

Craft services costs more for a movie than most people make in a year. Anything that you think is right or appropriate goes out the window when you're only as good as the opening weekend numbers and thousands of dollars go by each second while you're on set.

These things are movies, they get edited together and have the illusion of a continuous work. Multiple takes are required for scenes. Shooting drags on all day and goes on for months. EVERYTHING is run on a schedule. Actors are cattle. Sure, they get paid a lot but there's a reason a lot of young stars burn out more quickly and that's because Hollywood throws them around like tissues.

Was it nice or right? No, probably not. Does it make him a bad person? Maybe if your sense of good and bad is very black and white and you like to judge people based on closed set personal moments. I'd rather see someone curt and straightforward than most of the passive aggressive BS that passes as acceptable nowadays.

Yeah - I don't see any good reason for it. You can be pissed and stuff, but a tirade like this is immature. Alright, the DP did something stupid, but Bale going off for being distracted from playing pretend is just silly.

Well, he blows up at people for disrupting his creative process, or his method, or whatever... by hollywood standards they usually call those people that behave badly 'geniuses'.

Dumb... just dumb.
