Okay review time. Well its not quit broke in but i thought i would let you guys know what i think about it.
10in sub for 70bucks is a great price but after taking the sub completely apart and compareing it to my JBL, wow. JBL is built much better. no doubt. The foam in the AcousticAudio is VERY little. Less than halve the amount of my JBL. Wiring and everything seems fine besides everything is soldiered rather then a clip like the JBL has, no big deal just easyer to take apart if it did. The wood is particle board with a layer of the black nice wood look. and the thinkeness is halve the amount of my JBL. There is other things that shows you its made cheaper then JBL. Okay bottom line, I don't regret buying it. Im use to my JBL but since that broke i had to replace it with something that sounds as good, and this one does. But add more of that foam. I took it out of my JBL and put it in this one and it does sound better.

Almost all subwoofers are made of 1/2" or 3/4" MDF wood. It is particle wood. It is very dense and works better than regular wood.

You can purchase acoustic foam Poly-Fill material from Parts Express. They are $10.80 a pound and rather expensive, but they are the best.

Standard poly-fill material is available at Wal-Mart and most craft and fabric stores. They are a lot cheaper.

For $69, you got the deal of the century. A good 10" box can cost you anywhere from $80 to $300. A 10" driver will cost you $50 to $500. A 200 RMS watt amplifier will cost you $150 to $500. You still need additional dampening material, screws and labor.

Ultimately, the most important thing is the performance of the little box.

My JBL has two partilce boards togather to make it thinker. I used the foam from my JBL and replaced it so now its much better. Now that i broke it in its sounding very nice.

Got my black HD-SUB12 today, and boy it sounds nice. Still got a little port chuffing with Serenity on the opening scene. Had to dial down the sub a little. Everything else I threw at it, it had no problem with. The Dark Knight went low and deep without chuffing at all. Man I've never been hit with this kind of bass in my home theater. I'm happy, and that's all that matters.

Congratulations. When are we going to see pictures?

Edit: If you have it in a corner or against the wall, keep it a couple of feet away from all the walls. Since the port on this subwoofer is in the rear, it is very important that you give it some breathing room. Turn the volume to 65% and the crossover to its maximum point. Calibrate the level and crossover in the receiver.

Thanks. Sorry, can't comply with pics; I don't own a camera. Will see if I can borrow one soon.

Model # would be the HD-SUB10 or PSW-10 or RW-10...... Item number confused me too, so I just used the long number they put on the outside of the box, I was looking for a serial number but never found one.

Turns out the "port chuffing" I was hearing was really a loose piece of tape inside the port. Took it out and the "chuffing was gone.

I was a bit surprised when you said that originally because I heard no such problem. However, since the port on the HD SUB is on the back, it is important that you keep it a couple of feet or more away from the wall.

Frank- good visual match with those Polks. Looks like they were made for each other. Glad to see you got it nailed down to where it sounds good too!

Well, looks like I'm about to throw down for a cherry HD-Sub10 to go 6.2 - place it right behind me couch next to surround center. Reading this whole thread persuaded me to get this monstrosity instead of a PSW111. Save some bank, too. Dammit, Pops and DK!
