Probably one of my top 5 favorite movies. Thankfully I have something to look forward to.

A lot of us are fans of what the movie was actually theatrically presented as, ie. a 5.1 mix. Most films are mixed for the theater as 5.1, why get something different, and change the movie, for home viewing? May as well start changing other things too, aspect ratio, special effects, film title, etc...

Most movies are also printed to film, so maybe we should have projectors instead of bluray. Who honestly remembers how the movie sounded in theaters?

While people may not be able to remember what it sounded like in theaters, people with ears could probably pretty easily pick up on any gimmicky effects used to pointlessly mix this into 7.1 sound. How many sound effects are going to come from those extra 2 speakers and how distracting will it be? Use Pro-Logic IIx if you want it. It's basically the same thing anyway since both things are taking a 5.1 source and mixing it into 7.1.

And that would be awesome if Hollywood was ok with sending out film prints for us to buy. I don't see that being a readily available option though.

Home theater is about trying to duplicate the theatrical experience, which is what many of us are trying to do. That includes keeping the presentation as close to possible as the director intended. Sound mixes that are intentionally different for the home market are a shame- especially if that is the only hi-rez option on the disc.

If your referring to DNR i would not say i have noticed anything in the extreme. The worst culprit for that is usually New Line and Paramount i say.

And none the less they look better than there DVD counterparts.

Yup. A post a few days ago had HEAT coming out around August/September.

Now we just need to figure out what gun Al Pacino used in the shootout scene.
