Can you describe the shortcomings? Clarity, detail, noise, colors, DNR etc? Thanks

I get that it was a low budget movie, but I thought the PQ was bad. I'm not an expert at describing PQ, but let me say that it is without a doubt the worst looking BD I've seen (out of about 120). It looks to me like they took a video master and then added grain to make you think you are looking at a rendition of film.

The top and bottom edges of the picture, where it meets with the black bars, is fuzzy! Almost as if they were anticipating overscan, the picture is framed on the sides (not as much as Akira), but again, it is somewhat nasty looking (though not exactly fuzzy), almost as if they expected you wouldn't see it. You can really tell they used a bad master when the credits roll, because the letters aren't sharp, they look almost like the credits from a non-anamorphic DVD being played on a HDTV.

I'm glad I'm not a fan of this movie or I would be very disappointed by the disc. There are only 4 SD trailers, of movies I care about even less, as bonus features.

I held off buying this on SD, so buying this on blu for such a low price is worth so so picture quality.

Thank you. Glad I only paid $12.99 sounds like it will be under $10 in a few weeks.

even though it is a low budget movie...it's obvious there was nothing done to the source. it's a pretty bad looking blu-ray. it just looks like an upconverted 1st gen dvd. really disappointing but it is a very cheap blu-ray so I guess you get your money's worth. hope to see an upgrade someday.

overall: bad PQ. decent audio. no supplements. cheap.

I loved the movie! thought it was one of the best werewolf movies around, and I love the way the British make movies too.

I'm thinking about getting this just because I'm a Neil Marshall fan...loved Doomsday and Descent. Never heard of Dog Soldiers but I guess like movie titles that start with the letter "D".

Default "DOG SOLDIERS" Worst BD Ever!!!!!

"Dog Soldiers" released by First Look is the worst Blu-ray I have ever seen and heard. Looks like a very good VHS or very bad DVD. While the movie itself is decent it is no "Descent". PQ=1 SQ=0

Save your $12.99!!!!!!!!

The movie is a fairly cheap UK film. So you might want to go into more detail.

If it's grainy and such, that's pretty much how it was filmed.

As a follow-up, after doing some research... it was filmed in 16mm.

It probably is as good as it's ever going to look. The film was grainy as hell on DVD.

Everything is wrong with it, the worst of which is that it lacks clarity seems out of focus especially medium and long shots. The THD is awful, no pont in using your surround. Color is bad, night shots are terrible, what more can I say.

I'm aware of the 16mm, but this is a travesty-should not have been released on BD. Gives BD a bad name.

No it doesn't. Stop over-reacting. For goodness sake.

The movie was shot 16mm on an incredibly small budget. It isn't going to look like a brand new movie that was just shot today on the best cameras with the best film stock. Unless you wanna scrub it with so much DNR you destroy the picture. It looked like crap on DVD, and it just looks like higher quality crap on Blu-Ray.

You have a point as far as quality is concerned. But from a marketing stand point and since The Descent was such a massive hit, both on DVD and Blu-ray, people have wanted to check out the directors earlier film and somewhat cult classic. I thought it kinda stunk myself.

When I saw this on the Sci Fi channel and it looked ok. I havent seen my BD yet but it should arrive by saturday. I have low expectations however. I mean I dont expect everything on blu to look perfect.

i just watched it. the movie itself is pretty good. i never saw descent so i cant compare but the movie is definitly worth 12.99 the PQ wasnt great for BD but it was better than dvd. i thought the SQ was pretty decent, i liked how they used the rear surrounds alot for the gun fights and bangin on doors and howling. i wouldnt compare this BD to TDK or Transformers but for 12.99 its a pretty good buy.
