You could always buy a bunch of screen condoms. They are only ten cents each.... or even cheaper if you shop around.

alright i found some hd videos of the nvidia tegra chipset in action. seriously.."ha ha" @ everyone who has bought or will buy a phone recently/soon

amazing 3d interface: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTEaWfTO-zE

power usage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXYshhuJzh4&feature=hd

720p output: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7R90A7ZqLU&feature=hd

older breakdown of chipset: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQa9nP4yyms

the chipset shown is for smartphones and mid's so they'll only do 720p. but they have a more powerful set up for mid's and netbooks that does 1080p that's equally as impressive

I can't stand screen condoms the bubbles and the change to the tint of the screen is bothersome and loss of color and brightness.

Its very faint or small loss but enough to bother me..

If money was not a issue and I had access to infinite money and time, I might have considered this, through I question if the joystic can actually do everything the touch sensor can if that is not true there is no point, anything requiring touch sensor would be worthless to me.

That is still way too much for a cell phone..

But again if I have unlimited money perhaps.

I have the Crystal screen protector on my iPhone. No issues. Can't even tell it's there. No loss of clarity, shine or sensitivity. It has saved my phone from numerous run ins with screen scratching devices.

Ditto that.... I've gotten very good at putting them on without bubbles and they are so thin and clear that I'd have to imagine that any perceived differences in picture quality would have to be a placebo effect.

Don't bother, it's a really bad attempt at a smartphone. The hardware is unresponsive at best and WinMo 6 is a terrible outdated OS. Wait for Idou or Palm Pre!

i think buying anything other than a snapdragon or nvidia powered phone this year will be a mistake. both are gonna provide lots of 3d and hd goodness.

but yea wm6 is horrid, and 6.5 isnt going to fix all that much. luckily most companies provide a 'skin' to hide its ugliness lol. but real changes wont come until next year with wm7.

kinda hoping for an hd iphone this year..but i dont think thats coming till next summer

Doesn't make a difference to me, I get annual upgrades.

I don't think the Nvidia platform is going to be all that great, too power hungry and when you add it to other stuff like 3G reception it means the battery life will be all of 5 minutes.

haha well no fair!

did you see the links i posted of the nvidia chips? 10 hours of hd playback the only thing that worries with nvidia's is its been delayed so much, feel like it'll never actually make it to a phone

i'm still looking for better snapdragon specs, but they should be similar

...and ditto that! I'm super-anal and notice "the little things," and there is virtually no difference between a naked screen and one with the protective sheet. You're talking about microns worth of thickness in these sheets.

Yeah, but he compares it to power hungry Intel x86 chips. Compare it to ARM cores and then you see why I think this will be very power hungry. The simple fact is it has a lot more silicon than a standard ARM chip, so it will consume a lot more power.

snapdragon and tegra are both under a watt. and snapdragon is claiming a full day use with it always connected to the net.

ill have to see how .6 watts tegra uses, compares to the other chipsets

edit: looks like the iphone chip uses 2 or 3 watts..cant get a concrete answer

Haha that is why I said if I had access to infinite money, never a real purchase.

Im happy with my 580i...

Oh and it did get mixed reviews seems people neither hated it or liked it, but to me regardless that price is absurb for a phone...

So I'm in the market for a new phone now and I'm just going to grab an unlocked phone to use. My contract doesn't allow an upgrade until Oct. so I need something cheap and reliable until then. I don't need the camera or anything so I was thinking of getting this:

Blackberry 8700

It's only $124.99 at Tigerdirect. Anyone have any experience with it?

Well, my phone was on the cusp of death, so I ended up with the current HTC Touch Pro. It does have the needed specs to get upgraded to WinMo 6.5, and if that sucks I can jump over to a Palm Pre. Unfortunately I couldn't wait any longer, even with the fast approaching Palm Pre release.

Take that Sprint plan, everything for $99 a month, and the CEO of the company is practically begging you to buy it, disgusting. Thoughts?
I have two different cell phones.
Different carriers.
I use them as - phones. You know, to make and recieve calls... mostly when I'm not at home.
While is it rare that I get out, I have a phone with me.
When something happens and no home phone, I can usually still make a call if I need to.

Cell phones are cheap. Get one, I did...
No need for $99 per month, Pay as you go and it's $20-$25 every 3 months to keep it alive - $0.18 to $0.25 per minute for calls anytime.

Plenty for me.
