Hello. I need help on deciding which release to choose. From what I've understood, the original Optimum UK release is better in terms of PQ and AQ compared to the US release, and neither come with subtitles. The extras on the US release look more interesting to me. Then there's the AU release with lossless 5.1 audio. Is that one identical to the Optimum UK release PQ and extras wise? How about the Brazilian 2-disc release which comes with lossless 5.1 audio AND English subtitles? It also seems to have all the extras from the US release, which makes me believe it will also use the US transfer, right? This is all very confusing. Hardware is the perfect film to watch very late at night, meaning I cannot turn the volume up to eleven and thus would really appreciate subtitles. The BR release seems to be the only viable option but I don't want to pay a hefty price tag to import it if the PQ is subpar. Thanks for all the help in advance.

I picked up the Australian release for the lossless audio and the PQ. The Australian disc has the same colours as the Severin release. The UK release has slightly different colours and considering the fact that Richard Stanley said that Dario Argento was an influence for this film, I prefer the richer colours on the AU/US disc.
I'm very interested in hearing feedback on this Brazilian release
AVOID THE BRAZILIAN RELEASE! Not only does it NOT have lossless audio, it's in friggin' 1080i! It's also a burned copy and not a pressed disc.
This is going straight to the recycle bin.

Well, I have paid for the release, but luckily the seller has not yet shipped my order (placed the order only 4 weeks ago). I tried to contact them on FB as they do not have an email address on their website. Haven't heard anything back. Please let me know if you're trying to do the same and get a reply.

This film is brilliant. I watched it on Netflix a few months ago and finally imported the Australian disc for about four quid. It looks terrific on Blu-ray and I really enjoyed seeing it again.

25th A.E. looks afwul compared to the older Optimum S.E. blu-ray. It's cropped and the PQ and AQ are a lot worse. It also doesn't have any extras.
Like Pro-B says, it's not cropped. This was a blind buy for me, lack of extras is disappointing but this was Ł5.99 new and posted - the previous was Ł14.99 if in stock.
PQ looked good enough to me, I'm sure I read the a.e has either the same or slightly improved PQ.
I enjoyed it, it was a good Ł6 purchase but I didn't love it and Ł14.99 for extras I wouldn't have watched, im more then happy. Anyone thinking on this film as a blind buy too, I'd recommend the newer a.e and save Ł9 minimum it's enjoyable but no classic.
It appears it's too late for me, too. I opened a PayPal dispute against the seller, and now they suddenly claim to have shipped the film in December. Oh well, will definitely keep the dispute active as their product page clearly states this release as 1080p with lossless audio. I guess the AU release is the one to go with then?

Seems to be a bootleg of the US edition by Severin: a 1080i BD-R plus a DVD-R for the extras, no lossless sound, the slipcase is of very low quality - they lie just about everything on the sleeve, claiming 1080p, DTS-HD MA audio... The only positive is the inclusion of subtitles.
