[Show spoiler]how did they plan on bringing her back from the dead anyways?
Maybe using the healing wax. I have no idea but some were talking about Gibson putting her in the healing wax after the end of the first movie.

Wanted was a huge box office hit for Universal. Very surprised that a sequel is not on its way.

It actually is no confirmation that this isn't happening. The writer of the article is just assuming since Jolie has signed on for Gravity. That's why I didn't post it in the Wanted 2 thread. If they want to milk the cash cow, they'll postpone or write Jolie out of the script.

Yup wanted to point this out.

Just because Jolie is out of the picture doesn't mean that Universal wouldn't want to milk the cow. I am thinking its either they are scraping her character off, or replacing her with another character (completely a different one). I guess we have to wait and see.

And here we have the word

Jolie-less Wanted 2 On

Quote:
A couple of days back it was announced that Angelina Jolie wouldn't be returning for the sequel to Universal's "Wanted" as originally planned. Apparently the filming dates wouldve conflicted with a science-fiction thriller called "Gravity" that Jolie had apparently committed to make with Alfonso Cuaron. But as it turns out, Jolie's ditched that project too.

Whatever the case, Jolie is not doing "Wanted 2".

And with that, most assumed that'd be the last we hear of the sequel.

Now "Wanted" scribe Mark Millar is reassuring fans of the 2008 actioner that a sequel will happen - with or without Jolie.

"Wanted 2 will be certainly going ahead, because the first one made too much money for them not to do a sequel", the author tells STV. "What was funny was originally Wanted was just going to be one movie, and Angelina dies at the end, Morgan Freeman dies at the end - sorry to anyone who hasn't bought it yet...

"The idea was that it was going to be self-contained, but the movie cost $75 million to make and it made $314 million back just theatrically. At the premiere the tracking was really good and everything, and the producer came up and said What are we going to do for Wanted 2?' and I was like 'I don't have any ideas!'

"So they put something together, and it was bringing Angelina back from the dead and everything. I don't know, I think that probably just didn't sit easily with her, because it has to be a really good reason why somebody comes back from the dead."

Millar added: "I think it's actually more authentic if they keep her dead. She was the star of the movie really, but how cool is it to have the star dead and bring in another cool character for the next one.

"What I heard was that there's filming this year for a release at the end of next year, so the plot that they had will have some modifications now, her character will have to be written out completely. "

I'm with Millar, they'd only be bringing back Jolie's [dead] character for purely financial reasons. It's best to bring in a new pair of legs to share the screen with returning star James MvAvoy.

If they wanted too, they can do a cameo as a way to set things up for a third film. Like, for example; the mayhem is done and James McAvoy's character is still alive all though looking like s*** and we cut to a small dark room where we see a wax reviving bath and POW! Fox rises up in shock and starts screaming. Fade to Black and roll credits.

I wasnt real big on Wanted, but Angelina's character sold me on it. Disappointing to not have her back.

It's about time Hollywood left someone who was
[Show spoiler]shot in the head, stay dead after the first movie
but after the way the first one ended, I'd be renting it on Blu-Ray before I even remotely considered seeing it in theaters.

I said; "For example." Watch, Bekmembatov or how ever you spell it, might hold off on a sequel until Jolie can find time for it, a la Robert Rodriguez on Sin City 2.

Default Millar Says Wanted 2 Will Get New Characters to Continue On

Quote:
A couple of weeks back it was reported that Angelina Jolie was "ditching" the Wanted sequel to supposedly move on to Alfonso Cauron's new sci-fi project Gravity (even though it turns out she's no longer attached to that). Some reports were saying this might mean the death of that sequel, but author Mark Millar recently spoke with MTV and confirmed that Universal and director Timur Bekmambetov are planning to move on without Jolie and put together the film anyway with a new character from the comic book in place of Jolie. "What they're talking about is just moving on with the story and doing it properly," Millar said. Read on!

Hopefully you've seen Wanted if you're reading this, because Millar drops one hell of a big spoiler. "They killed off the most recognizable character, but I thought it was great to do that," Millar told MTV. "It was so ballsy to kill off the one person you didn't expect to die." What a great way to get rid of Angelina Jolie from this series, but Universal was hoping she'd return because I'm sure they don't think this sequel will be a success without her. Now they're writing in new characters. "Just bringing in another cool character as this world opens up with all the different fraternities out there all across the world. This could change at any moment, but the last I heard two weeks ago, was that was the plan moving forward." There you have it!

I haven't actually read the Wanted graphic novel, but I've been told it's actually better than the movie, so I'm sure it does have a rich world to pull more characters from. And honestly, I think most fans are happy seeing Jolie's character Fox not return anyway because, well, she died, as we all know, and it would be weird to see them come up with some bullsh*t plot device to bring her back from the dead. Since I'm not so familiar with the graphic novel I can't suggest other characters we might see in place of Jolie, but I expect to see another strong female lead, maybe as a new love interest

Kristen Stewart may need to learn how to curving bullets. E! Online reports that the actress is being considered as a replacement for Angelina Jolie in Wanted 2. Jolie dropped off the project in February and has since been linked to other projects, including the There Will Be Blood-sounding drama Serena with Darren Aronofsky and playing the lead in Tim Burton’s live action adaptation of Maleficent, based on the evil queen from Sleeping Beauty.

There aren’t any more details on Stewart possibly joining Wanted 2 (she’d presumably play a different character than Jolie’s) other than the report that she met with director Timur Bekmanbetov. In the meantime, Stewart is set to begin filming on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn this fall, although no official production date has been announced.
