Ordered a pair of OS3-FS this morning from WWStereo. Used their promo code (OS3FIFTY) to get 50% off the pair, so I'm paying $599 (US). Had planned to wait awhile before buying these, but that is just to good a price.

And now I wait.....pictures will be posted once I get set up.

Sounds like a great price. Let me know what you think about the bass you get from them.

bass will not be incredibly deep or thumpy, you will want a sub with this setup. however their imaging and detail in the mid-range will be really nice. their sound is a warm and slightly airy. I believe if you have a Best Buy with a Magnolia center in it, they should have the OS3-FS's there so you can hear them.

I wonder how those os3's would do for surrounds. My couch looks like it might interfere with things.

Yeah, if only.....but Best Buy in Canada doesn't have Magnolia Centers, and infact don't carry Mirage at all. My local Mirage dealer doesn't have the FS's in stock to hear, so I'm taking a bit of a flyer. Although between my current set up (Nanosats) and a friends (OS3-Sats) I have a pretty good idea what I'm getting. My room is small so I don't need earth-shattering bass (and my wife would probably burn it all down, lol), but yeah, a new sub is the next thing to look for. For now I'll keep using my Nano S8 Sub until I find the next great deal (WWStereo's Energy V8 for $225 was tempting though...)

About a year ago i picked up a set of nanos and the omni 8 sub for 450 buck. It has sounded good but i wanna upgrade speaker by speaker. My question is how well do the nanos and os3s sound together. I was thinking of getting the os3 center now then in a few months pick up 2 os3 sats. In a year i would like to then pick up the os3 towers. Also im running this with a pioneer elite VSX-21TXH. Willl i need to upgrade this or will it power the os3 series? Thanks for your help

Your Pioneer will power the speakers just fine. I think your plan for upgrading will be fine, the sound of the nanos and the OS3s should be similar enough.

Yeah, no problems all around. I had a NanoSat set with an OS3 for a bit and was very happy. Added the OS3-FS's lastweek and I'm even happier. (they're 50% off at wwwstereo by the way....promo code OS3FIFTY)

All powered by my Pioneer 1018 (although an Emotiva is planned for the future)

I was also thinking about running 3 OMD-5s across the front . My girlfriend really likes the rosewood so would make getting approval for purchase easier. Any one know if those are worth it over the OS3s.

Default Vintage Mirage rules

Hello all . . . I sure adore the vintage Mirage sound. I'm new to this forum. Thought I would post some quick pic of my Mirage set up...

Mains are M3-si, center is MC-si, rears are M290i and the sub is PS-12-90. Drooling over the BPS 400 I see on ebay . . .

cheers

(oops . . just realized the pic shows my M3 not the M3si . . ah well)

Omni-directional speakers are designed to disperse the sound in all directions. This gives the owner greater flexibility in positioning his speakers as well as providing a more balanced sound field. That is, you don't have to be in one specific spot to enjoy good listening. See my Gallery for photos.

I bought mine from Tweeters (HiFi Buys) after listening to a wide variety of speakers. I suggest you audition speakers at a store near you. You may prefer speakers that are more directional, in spite of what OMD enthusiasts in this thread will tell you. Everyone's ears are different. For example, when I listened to a set of Kipsch speakers, I was very impressed, but they seemed rather "bright" to my taste. The Mirage speakers had a more mellow, rich timbre to my ears.

I certainly encourage you to listen to Mirage speakers, if you can find a store in your area that carries them. You just might become a fan.

Man thank you very much for the feedback! I have heard various Mirage set ups and have a 5.1 nano stat and 8" sub set up with a v2cc speaker right now. Really like the Mirage sound and it works very well in my open wall, vaulted ceiling listening area.

TBH just ordeed from Vanns the OMD-15 system!!! Deal seemed too good to pass up!! Can not wait to hook that stuff up. Old system was great for movies, music not so good, know I will get a great result here. I think I may Bi Amp the fronts? any thoughts?

Wow, that is a great deal. Mirage is on my short list for my speaker upgrade later this year. Too bad I can't pull the trigger yet....that seems like an unbelieveable price!

Yes I could not believe it! The OMD-15 package I snagged comes with 2 OMD-15s, 2 OMD-5s, 1 OMD-C1 and the Prestige S10 Sub. for $1,999 shipped to the door. I had to jump on them cause from what I can tell Mirage has stopped making these and all the other OM Design speakers. Not sure if they will have another high end line like that, with the Klipsh ownership and the state of the economy. My guess is they are looking at it kind of like GM had to do with some of its brands by streamlining.

I just re did my whole room over the last couple days and set up the new Mirages. Lots of work! Re-ran all the cables, cleaned everything, reconfigured the room, made a custom center mount for the new OMD-C1, which is so heavy it bent the stout bracket I had made from 1/8" metal! Had to make an even beefier bracket then LOL.

The Speakers came perfect great job packing them up. These are some high quality speakers and sub! Just a beautiful fit and finish. Running 2 subs and will see how they work together after speakers are broken in. I Bi-Amped the fronts with the 6 & 7 surround channels from my Denon 2309ci.

So far watched "I'm Legend" BD which I like to use for a reference in Dolby True HD and the first scene I was picking up ALL kinds of stuff I had never heard before with my old system! So much richer and more detailed. Another thing I noticed while setting up and making preliminary adjustments and this pays testament to the OM Design but from anywhere in the room the center was perfect and crystal clear. I was all the way on the side of the TV, like 90 degrees from the front and the dialog from the center was as good as in the "sweet spot"!!!!

Took a bunch of pictures and will get them up soon. Party on my Mirage brothers I looked in your galleries and you guys have some awesome systems!!

Finally got some pics uploaded of the new set up. These things are awesome!! pretty much broke in now and sounded better every day the first week of use. Big sound all the way around. These things are so well made, just pretty!

I was at best buy and could not believe how much larger these are than the 0S3 which is also a great speaker. Very glad with this purchase all the way around. for movies these things are ridiculous!! I was thinking i might need beforehand a larger receiver but am glad to really say the 100w 2309ci is pushing them very well. Yes one day I will go bigger here, maybe separates. Thats the fun of it these projects are never finished LOL.
