the bass is better extension, the highs seem to play louder (top-end dynamics) without strain or harshness. Clear and more transparent allow for extra detail (micro details) such as the reverberation of a snare drum in space in a recording, or vocals in a live recording, or the clanking of utensils and glasses in a live recording.

but feel free to roll your eyes and talk crap... you don't have to read it.

Ive never heard an Arcam AVR so I can't help you compare the 2.

Do we all know why Big Daddy is not here anymore ~ I do.

To many people that Think They know what they are talking about & have no clue. To many experts with ~ I have heard this & been into this for a couple years & know what I am talking about ~ I know this speakers sound like crap But these are the best.

Just had to get that off my shoulders And was not directed at anyone.

IMO Big Daddy was the best & most knowledgeable on all this but this section turned into the Just be glad he left all the Stickies & did not remove them!

callas ~ It was not something I am throwing at you or in your face at all.

Look at his Stickies, Here we have someone that has been studying / experimenting / gaining knowledge on al this for 40 years. That includes a home theater for that long of time that non of us even thought of back then. The man was incredibly helpful in every way our Home Theaters are today ~ & I mean everyone that has studied his Stickie threads or have gotten help from him.

Brent I have to admit with all due respect it is a bit odd that you decided to post this in the Dynaudio thread, something certainly triggered the need to post the reason why BD decided not to post anymore,.

I have to agree with Steve that it is a bit difficult not to think it was not directed at anyone but seriously when an OP ask for peoples opinion and experience I think it's hard not to fall into those kinds of situations, As many times Steve and myself have tried to tell people to audition before purchasing anything is mainly because it's hard to value peoples opinions in a forum but a lot of people want to forge a first opinion based on other peoples experience.

The problem here if no one answers or value their opinion then this forum becomes completely useless. I understand we do not want to hurt people's feelings but seriously when people post their own serious review of a product it is what they felt with their guts.

I agree, Ive been to his home 3 times and learned a lot from him. Read his stickies and learned a lot. He is very knowledgable from a scientific / engineering standpoint.

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't remember reading anyone saying that something(speakers or gear) sounded like crap.

Its sad that he doesn't hang out anymore. He was very helpful for a lot of people.

Olivier ~ I will agree with what you have just said & feel sorry in a way that I posted it. Just something I needed to convey at the time. If you want I will remove it all ?

I think you leave it... but it would be interesting to know what sparked the need for that post at that time.

No Brent, it's ok I think it is a valuable post in some way I am starting to understand what may have triggered your need to post and I think I am good with it. I do believe Steve is starting to have a lot of the experience you are talking about and I honestly think he did is due diligence to talk fairly about Dynaudio speaker the way he does.

I think I can speak as freely about Totem speakers to be honest.

Some people may not understand but I think I do now.

Well he was well able to value each others opinion and was able to give food for taught to an OP.

He was always able to get back on some posters opinions and weigh the pros and cons.

I get you.

Frank was great about being able to help and his posts were funny and informative. But at the same time, at some point, all audio is subjective, and not everyone will like the same things. But if someone asks for an opinion, I think they know they are getting a one-sided view.

If Rhett and John want to poke fun at my post for sounding like a reviewer... then fine... let them. Johns post took me by surprise, but Rhetts I expected. I really don't care. Hell, Rhett will find any reason to talk crap... Ask anyone that knows rhett....

You know what I do remember you having the the whole definition of all of the audiophile vocabulary and I think I do remember saving a copy of it somewhere which is why you can speak so accurately about the sound. ;
Rhett cannot understand that now that he owns Raidhos.

OMG, thats right. I remember that dictionary. I was reading so many reviews that I was struggling to understand what all their colorful talk was saying, I guess now Im the one using the descriptors... probably should dial that back.

OH RHETT knows even more then all of us.. cause his $50k Raidhos are soooo good that they make his old $25k Dyns sound broken. Of course thats audiophile speak for "they sound so good, they make everything else sound like crap"

Bingo!

And yes, I'm sure my post took you by surprise, but I couldn't help myself Steve! The explanation you gave sounded like bits and pieces you took from various articles and/or that dictionary. Micro-macro dynamics? Come on...give it up. It's bullshit and means nothing to the vast majority of members here.

Talk to them in your own language Steve!

You're very knowledgeable and have come a long way through the years. You are obviously dedicated to this hobby, and I also know you're the first one to help people out when it comes offering up a suggestion.

Be yourself Steve.....
