Dexter: Thoughts and predictions [spoilers]

LaGuerta either needs to find out about Dexter or get killed. She serves no purpose on the show anymore.

I've never read the books, but I think she was murdered in the books and Doakes thought Dexter did it.

It was not a bad season but it was below Dexter standards in my opinion...

Well today's episode just kind of put the "rumour" to rest I believe. I don't think it's still plausible at this point.

So last week Professor Gellar was a ghost who didn't eat and was never acknowledged by anyone besides Travis, and this week he drinks, answers his cell phone and the chair squeaks when he stands up.

Ya it was weird how he was a ghost for 4 episodes and now all of a sudden he's completely involved in everything.

I really liked last night's episode. After reading your comment I wasn't expecting much.

Not much really happened with him yet so I doubt he'll die


I was thinking, only Season 1 and 4 really stand out as "amazing" or "great." Season 2 a lot of people didn't like Lila but overall was a good season, season 3 was weak in comparison and Miguel wasn't well liked. Season 5 people didn't like Lumen and it was also weak (especially after Rita's death, but what would you expect after that?) and I've read people saying similar things about this season. I'm not speaking for everyone, just a majority of what I've read

So in reality, 3 1/2 of those seasons weren't all that great. Personally I've enjoyed them all for what they were. It seems as if people are always expecting to have another season 1 and/or 4, possibily even comparing every season to those two but I don't think it'll happen.

Brother Sam didn't get shot in the head or die instantly from a single gunshot wound like lots of characters do on TV and in movies, so he's probably going to make it, or at least live long enough to say something to Dexter.

I really liked season 2. Maybe because there was such a rush from season 1. Plus there's nothing wrong with seeing Jaime Murray naked.

Season 3 was a letdown with the gardener or the slasher or whatever the nickname of the main serial killer was who they didn't really develop. Jimmy Smits' character was interesting, but considering that Dexter worked at the same precinct as Doakes I'm surprised Prado made no reference to the Bay Harbor Butcher whatsoever.

Season 4 was a big upgrade but I don't think it's as great as some people say. John Lithgow was great though.

Season 5 I thought was a mess and a lot of missed opportunities. They threw a lot of balls into the air and didn't catch any of them, and then at the end they're back to the status quo.

That's good to hear. There's been a lack of kills from Dexter the last few seasons so I think that's a big part people don't like. But having a kid really changes everything

I loved Lila so I never really understood the dislike for her, Prado on the other hand I did. Every once in a while I feel like the writers don't think people will realize things like why he never mentioned the BHB or if they start something and never finish. Like what ever happened to LaGuerta having a "crush" on Dexter? Season 4 was amazing just from John Lithgow alone.

Season 5 was definitely the weakest, not even because of the characters introduced. It was more because they had a chance for something big to happen but took the easy way out. Now they need another chance for Deb or anyone else to find out about him. I rewatched the 5th season before the 6th started and liked it a lot more the second time.

Yup. And last night's episode Brother Sam telling him that Harrisson was his "light" all I kept thinking about was ... PLEASE take Harrisson away so we can see angry ruthless Dexter Not because I don't like Harrisson , I actually really do but maybe just one episode , see what happens. The only great thing about season 5 was that first episode where Dexter loses it on the guy in the rest stop bathroom. Freaking awesome.

I'm kinda torn on Harrison being gone or not. He's adorable and I like seeing that side of Dexter but I'd kinda rather see him kill. The rest stop kill was great because it was true anger and aggression. There needs to be more kills and not just the "big bad" kills.

I'm sure I would too because my expectations would be much lower and I could enjoy it simply for the characters. I did like the Killer in that season very much. Lumen I did not!

Even still I can't decide if I liked her or not. It was nice for Dexter to have someone there he could help through their pain but I wasn't sad to see her go.

actually I have always thought the show was and NEEDED to show dexter grow. show him mature and control his dark passenger and get away from the killing after a while. otherwise it's just a cheap trick where the masses wanna see him F@ck up some baddy. his character growth has almost gone to a standstill since Rita died (she was slowly causing change in his life and a good influence). Now I feel like it's just a catering to the bloodthirsty masses in his character development

Season 5 just felt like it was going through the motions and making a lot of mistakes. Everything that happened with Quinn was just idiotic. Deb choosing not to see who the killers were at the end was also a giant misstep. And I'm not sure how the department can act like she solved the case if there's no body of Eli Stone.

I think season 5 was Chip Johannessen's first time in charge of a TV show, right? And probably his last too.
