Nolan doesn't do it. WB does it.

Oh? I thought that directors had a say in that sort of thing. My bad. WB shouldn't do that. How hard is it to put the film directly onto a disc?* Sigh.

* I know it's an art, but this art shouldn't involve changing a director's original elements.

There is a major disconnect between the blu-ray encoders and whoever is in charge of encoding movie trailers at Warners. The trailers for both "The Dark Knight" and "Inception" look flawless. The blu-rays are close but seem to be a little softer. Could the codec (VC-1 vs. AVC) be the issue?

Although, VC-1 encoded movies can (and most of the time) look fantastic; mostly from other studios.

Don't know why people are paying >$100 for this on eBay. HMV in Canada is selling them for $39.99.

Because the US version is a limited edition of 2000 and is slightly different than the Canadian (and all other countries') version.

halloweenie is correct: "Because the US version is a limited edition of 2000 and is slightly different than the Canadian (and all other countries') version."

The one in Canada (can't buy online) is fine for those near a HMV store, but it doesn't have everything the limited edition U.S. set has. Of all the sets out there (region locked DVDs of course) the U.S. one is the only one that has all the features and all the extras. Yes, the HMV is very similar, but it is not a limited edition set. But, if I was near one of those stores I'd be going to preorder at least 10 if they'd let me. I remember placing a bunch of pre-orders for something like this in the past at a number of stores and once they found out from the store managers they cancelled my orders. What a waste of time that was. They didn't realize I was pre-ordering Wiis (when they were hard to find the first Christmas) for nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

One bad part of getting the BD early...... The digital copy website is not functioning yet. No iPhone copy for a while.

Long time lurker, first time poster...

If it makes anyone feel better, I placed my order on the morning of Saturday, November 13, and my order still shows as "In Process". I'm still a little nervous though...

All I see in the completed listings is green numbers, which to a seller means cha-ching. Like I said before, I could kick myself for not ordering an extra to flip.
Last week I put 9 listings on my watch list just to see what they sold for eventually. All listings started between the 12th and the 15th, and now they've all ended, again these were just at random.

Selling prices, all auction, no BIN: $212.00, 182.50, 222.50, 152.50, 188.00, 182.50, 167.50, 158.00 & 202.50...

You're absolutely right! I was wrong. The listing before mine had ended around 152.50 or 158.00. Mine had ended at 222.50.

It's called being financially smart. If I had extras I'd do the same. Collectibles are big business and the rules of supply and demand rule.
