It had only 8 steelbooks on display, 4 on each side, the f**king guy walked in right behind me grabbed all 4 on one side, so I instantly grabbed all 3 on my side waited to see what he was gonna do. He probably realized I was doing that on purpose, so he walked away. Then I put those back grabbed one and left.
What part of Va?

I got the Target 3D version since my wife is one of the many obsessed Tom Hiddleston fans. I'll probably have to wait until this weekend to watch the film again but I did watch the One Shot, which was good and will hopefully allow people to like Iron Man 3 more (which I already liked to begin with)

Got the last steelbook at my store. The ones they had at the front were all gone so I went to the middle of the store and had one left.

re:cheap - Nah, personally it was just one of those "throw away the box before reading the microwave instructions" duh moments, was all. Had to go all of two feet to the recycle bin to double check the fold slip to make sure it didn't really list BD3D+BD+DVD.

Overpaid at Wal Mart ($24.97 + taxes - same as amazon.ca) but didn't want to waste the gas searching for a better deal.

I went in BB today and there were 6 copies. I thought about it and was about to skip it, but 5 minutes later there was only one left so I grabbed it "just in case". I haven't seen the flick yet, but love what is happening with Marvel's comic movies so I figured I better get it while I can since my gut said it will be hard to find. Look on here and I was right!
Across the street, Target had plenty of their exclusive slips FWIW.

It's too bad there wasn't a exclusive bonus disc at a retailer, it would've fit in there nicely. (Probably where the DVD should have been. Cheap Disney. )
I'm sure at some point in the next couple of years, the DVD only version will likely be available for $1.99 on Amazon during a Black Friday sale. If someone really wants another disc to put in that spot and make it into the 3D-BD, BD, DVD combo pack that it was originally going to be, that will be the best bet. It will just take a little patience.

I doubt the price would have been any different if it had been included.

Man I love this steel but I'm really pissed about the empty slot, either give us a dvd or give us a two-disc-tray steelbook Disney!

Got to BB at 945. Over 20 ppl waiting outside when I got there. We all made a dash for the stand up and there were maybe 10 or less there. Snagged a copy for a friend along with the one I had for instore pick up. After all that trouble I should charge him ebay prices. Walked around after getting my copies and saw none in the other shelves so it looks like those copies all sold out in under 60 seconds at my store. Nice steel but the 3 trays are silly, may just put the first film blu and dvd in this steelbook to save space.

My logic is twisted, my obsession with blurays not only isn’t healthy and takes all my money, it makes me talk to myself to either get this version or that.

I am not one into “special packaging,” I prefer “ X Store disc exclusive,” I tend to want the version with the most disc content; more bang for the buck.

Then this movie came out, no exclusive disc content anywhere. You have the 2d and 3d version, that’s it but with 2 store packaging differences. Best Buy with the steelbook and Target with the alternative slipcover.

Remember when I said I am not one for packaging? I guess I lied. I went to Target and got the slipcover. I do not own a 3d player nor will I ever (political reasons), so I essentially paid $5 more for a piece of cardboard…but it’s pretty!

I could have price matched Wal-Mart. I didn’t because I was buying a few other things and it slipped my mind. I could have gone with the steelbook from Best Buy because it was actually a little cheaper. However, my OCD got to me and I didn’t want to stand in Best Buy for over an hour looking for one with the less scratches and dents and then coming home and examining it a little more.

Blurays have made me a hypocrite.

Question

Is the digital copy in the 3D version ITunes only and does it require a disc because VUDU has a redemption page for it.

My Best Buy only have 6 copies of the steel. A friend and I were able to do an in store pick up at 6 am and picked it up at 10 am. My Target had about 5 of the Loki exclusives. Only 3 cities in my state have it in stock now.

Disney isn't doing iTunes only digital copies in the U.S. anymore. It can be redeemed through Vudu, and no disc is required for redemption via any service.

Thanks! I'll have to try to get my hands on that code because I'd love to see that feature but I don't really want to by an additional copy of the movie since I already bought the best buy steelbook.

I stopped at Target today and when I saw there was no slip for the 2D version, I decided to take a pass. If I can't get one with a slip in the first week, I'll wait until the price drops or pick it up on Black Friday.

EDIT: And I know I can get a slip for the 3D one, but I'm not paying 3D prices just to get a slip cover. I sure hope this isn't a trend, but then again it takes all the pressure off of buying early and I'll save a lot of money if I don't have to worry about slips.

That might be more of a valid point if the price of the 3D version wasn't so low for this release. Add in the digital copy that comes with the 3D version, and I'd say it's definitely worth it. And if you're not a digital copy person, well then it's even better for you since you can easily sell the digital copy on the forum here and end up having paid less than the cost of the 2D version for the 3D version with a slip.
