Like I said a couple pages back, they made enough money on The Exorcist that they could have dumped some into this anthology set and made it pretty special.

Business 101. They're probably already scheming to re-release the films at some point, with a "remastered edition" selling point, or one of those stupid packaging gimmicks like a Diamond Edition. This is Warner we're talking about - the kings of pointless reissues. They take on other studios' films but they only seem interested in reissuing the same 6 or so of their own titles over and over.

It sure as shit looks like it.

Big time bummer, because watching it again this time, I found myself liking it even more than last time, when I'd liked it a little more than the time before, etc. Gradually, I've drifted from hatred, to indifference, to guarded affection for this bizarre mess of a movie.

I still roar with laughter at a few of my avatar's more impassioned line readings though. "Eeeevil is a spiritual being!"

I originally ordered the bilingual version but switched to the import when the price dropped to below the domestic release. Unlike many, I don't really care about cover art or packaging. I only care about having the best available presentation of the films I love for display in my modest home theater.

While I'm saddened by the reports that the transfers are lacking, I know that these are the best available at this time...and as such, I want them NOW!!!!

Unfortunately, it seems that we in the great white north are going to have to wait for our goodies to arrive. Hopefully we will keep each other posted here...

I originally ordered the import because it was cheaper than the bilingual, but it doesn't look like Amazon.ca has stock of the import and they dropped the price of the bilingual after. So I cancelled the import and switched to the bilingual and it will arrive today.

I don't know... I can't really see special edition/remastered versions of Exorcist 2 and 3 coming out soon....

WB doesn't care about these titles (the original is the moneymaker) and this is probably all we're going to get for a very long time

Just got this email from Amazon:

Hello from Amazon.ca.

We're still trying to obtain the following item[s] you ordered on August 20, 2014:

"Exorcist: Complete Anthology [Blu-ray] [Import]"

Still want it? We'll keep on trying. You'll still be able to cancel at any time before we ship it. If you want to cancel the item now, please click the link below:
What's the point of offering pre-orders if you are not going to have them when they are released?

so I am curious what others think...I'm half way through Exorcist Beginning and as usual, I think it's a great movie. This movie got trashed upon its theatrical release but I've always liked it a lot. Second favorite in the Exorcist series. What do you all think?

BTW, the transfer on Beginning is really good both in the sound and the video department which is no surprise as it is a newer movie with a large budget.

I thought Exorcist: The Beginning was pretty bad when i watched it two nights ago. Nearly as bad as Exorcist II. Not watched Dominion yet.

I prefer it over Dominion and the first half is quite good, it does kind of go off the rails about the mid-point though. The concept is probably my favorite of all the Exorcists but neither film really did it justice for their own reasons.

I don't think it's that bad.
[Show spoiler]They tried to make Sarah's possession close to how Reagan's was in the original as far as make up and demonic vocals go. Entertaining to say the least.

I was defensive of Exorcist The Beginning when it first came out, I had followed it's production, but I was extremely repulsed by the depiction of the Demon, it felt more like a parody, and even a joke, the makeup design had some unnecessary elements.

I liked it enough that I was willing to accept it, but I was very curious to see the first version that had been filmed.

when I finally Saw Dominion, I pretty much abandoned Exorcist The Beginning, although Dominion has it's issues, some of them being the post production, others being the film itself, I found it to be a more satisfying film on an intellectual and spiritual level, it had a more intriguing depiction of the Demon(could have beefed up the dialogue though) it wasn't a connect the dots type of Prequel, and I was fine with that, I didn't mind the slower pace, it fits better if being watched before the original.

It felt like a "FILM" not a "FLICK" and that is the film I prefer, but of course it's flawed and could have been better.

I don't bash anyone for liking one or the other, people have different expectations and desires from a film, and that's natural.

I've taken a look at The Dominion Blu Ray, and it looks quite good, Beautifully shot film, a bit on the flat side though, I do like the more atmospheric Look of Exorcist The beginning.

Dominion is not in it's original aspect ratio, but surprisingly a lot of the white specs that were in the film don't seem to be on the Blu Ray version

I first saw Exorcist: The Beginning back in 2004. I got halfway through, decided it was shit and gave up. God knows what I'd think of it now.

I think that's why I enjoy it so much. It isn't nearly as impactful as the original but I was never bored and it was certainly a gruesome movie. The end was a cheap cash in on the original but considering the mess that the movie went through I think the Renny Harlin version turned out quite enjoyable. Those WWII scenes are so well done even though those are from Dominion. They fit perfectly into Beginning's story arc.

It's not in its original aspect ratio? What was the original aspect ratio and what's on the Blu-ray? Was the DVD in the original aspect ratio?
