There's a reason RDJ's in the center - he's the linchpin of this whole universe. His performance in the first Iron Man - and the audience's overwhelmingly positive reaction to it - is one of the main reasons we have the first Avengers film. He's widely been credited - along with Favreau - with setting the tone for the whole MCU. And really - saying he "hasn't been good in anything outside marvel movies" is just nonsense.

As for why Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver aren't on the cover, it's already been pointed out that

[Show spoiler]they're not Avengers until the end of the film.

Avengers is the biggest Marvel franchise though and i'd like to see more female representation there. Having 1 female hero featured in the line up is ridiculous in my opinion. That's how it is in the comics though as well [progressing slowly] so i can't fault the movies too much. I mean for the recent Avengers Illuminati there's no female representation, there's only some for the Cabal, the evil version. Black Swan and Proxima Midnight. Even with the opportunity of added two new characters to the exclusive club, instead of adding a female character Bruce Banner and Beast were added. That's absurd and shows me a lack of top level female characters with Marvel, or faith in them.

The movies can do their own thing and don't have to follow the comics as they've already proven so they could do it more so, also taking that into consideration. They can build up characters and push them to the top in a way the comics can't.

Don't ruin these comics or movies with your BS social justice agenda. How about Marvel just continues to write badass, awesome characters no matter what gender and not shoehorn someone where they don't belong to appease some PC group that's never going to be happy.

It was announced that AoU will be on Netflix starting in September right after the Digital HD release on the 8th.

Does anyone else feel as if they are really trying to slam the final nail into the coffin that has become physical releases? I mean.. we've got Digital HD coming first, then Netflix and finally Blu-ray/DVD a month after both of these being available through digital means first.

Surprised no one mentioned this or had any thoughts on it.

Not for releases that make over a billion dollars at the box office and for sale on streaming. ive never seen them do this before with such a big movie like this. Very concerning to me imo that people can watch this on netflix for so little when everyone who wants to own it gets to wait another month. They are getting pitch perfect a few weeks early as well. If netflix starts this as a trend physical is going to take a massive hit.

With a movie as giant as the Avengers and the money they could make off of the physical releases I feel this is going to be a giant blow to the revenue from BD/DVD considering how it feels as if everyone in the world has a Netflix account now.

The Netflix streaming article appears to have been a mistake. Most have been updated to reflect it being on AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO on 9/8 (that's the paid PPV-type streaming, not Prime).
