Good news, Jacques Audiard's Paris, 13th District (Les Olympiades) is getting a Blu-ray release from Curzon in May: https://store.hmv.com/store/film-tv/...-13th-district

Seems Curzon are removing the Artificial Eye branding, if the Flee packshot is anything to go by...not sure how I feel about that. Perhaps they feel titles will sell better this way? Everyone's on the Scanavo game now which is curious.

The reverse art on Flee is hideous. I suppose they’re going for a paperback look (including the “BY” credit - which is similar to how BFI used to put a director’s name underneath the title and on the spine), but I can’t say I’m big on this new template. It will feature a director Q&A though so hopefully that’s a substantial extra.

A number of Q1 2022 films have no physical release in the UK announced as of yet, including: Boiling Point, Ailey, Memoria, Torn, Sing a Bit of Harmony, Belle, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Jockey, Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, Petrov’s Flu, The Real Charlie Chaplin, Ali & Ava, Studio 666, Rebel Dread, Hive, Red Rocket, Master Cheng, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, X, New Worlds.

I’m confident the anime titles will get an announcement soon though, same with X as it’s EFD.

I’ve watched some good Indian films in the cinema recently like Hridayam, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bheemla Nayak, RRR, but the UK market for releasing Indian cinema even on DVD seems to have disappeared.

Not sure what’s going on with Universal. They licensed out Dear Evan Hansen, too.

Still no news of Titane, or a solid release date on Licorice Pizza yet as well.

Have my fingers tightly crossed for Memoria...I did actually contact Sovereign to see if they were planning anything but they never replied. Also especially interested in X, Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy, Boiling Point, Ali & Ava, and Red Rocket. Complete gamble whether any of these get Blu-rays at this point, but Drive My Car winning an Oscar might mean Hamaguchi might start getting more attention Blu-ray wise, and X has had very good reviews (I'm a fan of Ti West and would blind-buy it, since I probably won't see it theatrically).

Yeah, bit odd about Licorice Pizza. I nearly pre-ordered it and now the price has gone up, but strange it hasn't had a release date. Only thing I can think of is Anderson is tweaking the release? I feel like he had a say in regards to Phantom Thread for example (didn't look like the usual studio release, with reversible artwork and clear Amaray case).

I got in touch with Sovereign and got a fairly non-specific answer, outside of no plans either way as of yet.

X is fantastic by the way, had a blast with it beginning to end, sad to see EIF already pulling it from the majority of cinemas but it seems to be performing well in America.

I'm giving up hope of a Titane release. There isn't even an English friendly Region B to import.

Some of the latest Modern Films DVDs have some extras.

Family Romance LLC - BFI Sofa Club Q&A with Werner Herzog and Asif Kapadia

Falling - Deleted Scene, Interview with Viggo Mortensen Presented by Nowness, Sundance 2020 Awards Ceremony Video Featuring Skating Polly Live Performance

Luxor - feature film The Imperialists are Still Alive and deleted scenes

Beyond the Visible - booklet and notebook

Sisters with Transistors and Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliche appear to be barebones

Might get Luxor but unsure

Btw, dunno if anyone else noticed but The Green Knight now getting 4K UHD steelbook (two variants) in June. Seems EiV decided to go for it in the end, perhaps because The Northman is about to be released (and has already had a few comparisons to this film).

Depressingly, The Bad Guys - probably the freshest Dreamworks film in a while - currently only has a DVD listing on Amazon.

A lot of non-Disney animated children's films/shows seem to be DVD only here sadly. I think the studios reasoning is probably "kids won't notice/care it's not in HD so why go to the effort of pressing a Blu-Ray version as well?"

Man, I’m getting pretty antsy that Licorice Pizza hasn’t got a date yet. With so many great films missing out on a disc at the moment I finding it pretty stressful as a collector nowadays.

I saw somewhere it’s coming out in June in the UK (and has the same extras as the US release coming out in May). I’ll try and find the article but sounds like it’s finally on its way!

EDIT: here it is! https://theartsshelf.com/2022/04/12/...june-2022/amp/

Must be from a press release. Odd that Universal still occasionally do dual format releases but hey, apparently it’s still a thing?

Looks like no physical media release from Dogwoof for Giusepe Tornatore's Morricone documentary Ennio despite rave reviews. An Italian disc is scheduled but no English subs are listed.

It’s just come out, maybe they’ll add a preorder in a few weeks? But they’ve had plenty of recent titles like Mayor, The Mole Agent, IWOW, Sabaya, The Lost Leonardo on VOD but not on disc. Picturehouse are getting it near me but not for another week, seems to only be in London for this next week.

Glad they’re regularly doing BDs but if anything I wish they still did DVD just so they could sneak the smaller titles out on a physical release even if projected sales are low.

I noticed JFK Revisited has no UK disc from Altitude but is getting a French Blu in the summer.

At least the latter just had the Criterion release announced, but not everybody can play Region A or wants to spend $20+ on an import.
