I watched the 4K Fury Road disc two days ago, and it worked fine.

So glad I got this for $25.00. I imported it to the U.K and it got here in mega quick time. It arrived over a week before it was supposed to, so I was really pleased. Great deal as it’s now gone back up to double the price. I got it so I could have all the films and extras in one box set.
Still haven’t opened it though as I’ve been working so tomorrow looks like it’s Mad Max day in my household. Haven’t seen them in a while. I’m really looking forward to watching the documentaries The Madness of Max and The Road Warrior as I’ve never seen them. We never got this box set in the U.K. Only a stripped down trilogy box set. The case of mine looked like someone tried to perform surgery on it with the business end of a hammer. The top of the spine is cracked, to the point where the plastic sleeve around the art insert was split open. The damage inside is more telling though. The hinge holding the trays is undone on the top, and the damage on the spine started to rip into the art insert slightly. Both of the plastic ridges above the tops of each side of the case were busted off in the middle. Part of one was down in the bottom of the case and the other managed to wedge itself into the corner at the top near the point it broke.
It's hard to tell if the breakage did anything to the discs themselves though. The Mad Max disc had a noticeable scrape on the printed side which is where the piece of case broke off and dropped to the bottom but it's impossible to tell if it's just a print defect or caused by the shard of doom. The breakage here even roughed up the top of the digital copy insert a bit. Seemed surreal, because the slipbox is relatively fine - a few rough corners but no dents, smashes, tears or anything severe that I can see. The box it was delivered in was mostly fine as well, shipped with a line of those airbags that were still inflated. I was considering just transplanting it to a new case but I'll roll the dice on a replacement since they've got it listed in stock again. |

Yeah, idk what happened with this release. Both times I got it, it came well packaged in a box which is unusual for Amazon since they almost always ship in bubble mailers. Both times, the slipbox was damaged and in rough shape. My second copy has a scratch on the 4K disc but thankfully it played all the way through this time with no issues.

Figured I'd try and watch the two in the set I hadn't seen, or the one I'd only ever seen through edited and cut for time/content television airings - Beyond Thunderdome - and the Black and Chrome version of Fury Road, before I seal this back into the box and have UPS ferry it back to the underworld of Amazon tomorrow.
Having looked at the Thunderdome disc, I saw two weird circular impressions toward the outer edge of the underside. Not breaks or gouges or anything but just two circular bits toward the edge, spaced maybe less than an inch apart. Seems like they'd be harmless enough, turns out to be the opposite. I got up to the last chapter on the disc and noticed it started hitching during playback. The first time it did it and just moved forward but the second time was right at the last 10 or so minutes of the film and it just hard locked on Max doing a dive away from the plane as it took off and never recovered. Kinda glad I decided to try my luck with a replacement now because that disc is severely defective. |

Sorry to bump this 6 month old part of the thread without having anything new to add, but I was just curious, which seller had Mad Max High Octane Collection for $25 this summer?
I finally cottoned on to the fact that all non-US editions of Mad Max (1979) are bare bones (even the Scandinavian one which explicitly states it contains the extras on the packaging are just a misprint). I will therefore have to import it to Norway where I live. The only real negative about the US set is that Mad Max (1979) is Region A only, but being region free that dosen’t bother me. Here’s hoping The High Octane Collection will stay in print and come down to this price again some time next year. |

I really, really want to see that “Road War” documentary, but I don’t want to buy the whole boxed set for it, especially given that I have the Kino of the first film with the original mono track at long last, the tin trilogy set, and the steelbook of FR that I overpaid for on eBay.

Strangely, VUDU doesn't offer any RW special features at all. |
