No way. He didn't even know they were going back to the Island.

I though Locke said something like a few days to CW in Tunisia.

Eloise Hawkins said they had to recreate as much of the original crash as possible. This time there was no button to push nor Swan station generating magnetic forces which I thought was the key thing that caused the Oceanic flight to break up and crash on the island. So does this mean the doorway to the island is opened wider from now on due to the Swan station blowing up? That will make the Bermuda Triangle look like safe shipping lanes.

What do you think the LA newspaper headlines will read when they announce that the O6 have done it again? There will be rumours of trying to collect another payoff this time from Ajira Air.

Maybe. Somehow, Desmond will return to the island. I think he'll be with Charles Widmore. It'll have something to do with bloody Ben and Penny. Perhaps Caesar was planted by Widmore to help them find the island. Just a shot in the dark there.

Yeah, I thought it was. Thanks!

I think the reason Ben was bloody when he was talking to Jack was because he killed Penny and Desmond tried to stop him or something. So the reason for Desmond going back to the Island would be obvious. To kill Ben. This could be Desmond's destiny.

Well, yeah, for Locke. But he left the island pretty quickly after Ben and the O6 did. What about Sawyer and Jin and the others, though? I'm curious to see how long it's been for them. I'm sure we'll find out soon, maybe this Wednesday.

I think you may have the wrong idea. Leaving the island causes you to jump through both space and time. Locke left the island and jumped three years into the future. Therefore, it's probable that the Losties left on the island have been there for three years also. This would give Sawyer, Jin, Juliet, Miles, and Daniel (who knows where Rose and Bernard are ) time to join the Dharma Initiative and learn all types of cool stuff about them. Regardless, the producers have said we'll find out all of the time difference answers in the next couple of episodes. The time difference is only a small part of the overall story arc of season 5, as they say.

Also, I think you have a great point about Desmond! You could very well be right, then we could see Desmond go there on a boat some time this season.

How you measure time is the key to this question. In terms of perceived time to Locke it had only been a few days. In real time there is almost no correlation, they, Locke, Sawyer, Miles, Juliette, presumably Faraday, were all the way back to a very early period of time, the rerun captioning specifically said that when Locke was at the wheel of time it was the furthest back in time they had ever been, the well had not been dug yet. That could be hundreds if not thousands of years.

Now if you want to say that when Locke jumped, the island bound losties have lived a three year span, that can be as true as you want. We know that Jin at least jumped back to some time when the Dharma van was new; and if I understood some earlier posts, had enough time to teach Charlotte how to speak Korean.

IMO, the whole time travel aspect is meaningless at this point. It maybe the whole reason for the show, to give examples of how time travel would mess everything up, create impossible to resolve paradoxes, etc. Which brings me to my own personal theory that the show is really a computer game being played over the internet by physicists to test their own theories. And then there is the Constant, a time traveler has to connect with something they know absolutely exists in a given time period; works better than cotton stuffed up your nose.

Think of it like skipping a rock across a pond, do you measure just the portions where the rock touches the water or the total distance traveled by the rock before sinking? I thought PS3 was asking about the water touching parts.

My middle name starts with J too. Maybe I am Jacob and I just don't know it yet.

Just messing with you TooBlu. This thread wouldn't be the same without you.

I'm fairly sure he meant the water touching parts. In other words, as the time travelers perceive it.

Also just wanted to say that I loved the ending of the last episode.

"Do you know this man?"

"That's the man who killed me."

LOST

motha mothas. I love this show. I notice a lot of people like to criticize and over analyze. I just like to enjoy the ride the writers take us on.

THey know what they're doing now at least. Since they signed the 3 year deal for seasons 4,5,6. They have mapped it all out. The first 3 seasons were amazing, but by season 3 the goal of the show seemed to not be in focus.

However, now I'm confident the writers have solved any and all of the inconsistencies people point out. Then again, we do have some smarties on this forum. I could be wrong.

Yea, I agree. They have filled a lot of the holes that were out there. A lot of my questions have been answered for far and I am not getting as annoyed with the multiple doors opening up. I mean we now know why Charles Widmore wants back on the island. Granted there are a lot of holes there, but at least we understand something with him now.

We do? I don't buy the concept that it was his island and his people, etc. being motivation enough. How does a guy growing up on an isolated island gets cast out in the desert of Tunisia, climb his way up to owning a very successful corporation with nearly unlimited resources? Their education system was mediocre, they stole clothes from dead military personnel, used bow and arrows for weapons, etc. It is possible to do a rags from riches story but both Ben and CW have seemingly unlimited resources. There is something much bigger worth fighting for on or about the island. Even saying the Templars buried King Solomon's treasures on the island wouldn't explain it.

Lol! So we don't know for sure how long it's been for the losties on the island then?

That is an absolute truth IMO. I like Stephie's post 101, about time travel. I think Lost has used many more variants than Stephie allowed, but it did point out how time travel would create situations that are a paradox. Like the bullet injury to Locke occuring as a future event in the past.

I don't think you know enough about the education the Others provided to make a statement like that. Juliet said that she and 17-year-old Charles Widmore both spoke Latin because it was a required part of "Others 101" and because it is the language of the enlightened. Not to mention the fact that almost all the Others have some form of martial arts and/or self-defense training. Remember Ethan's moves in season 1, or Juliet vs. Kate? He was a surgeon and she's a fertility doctor. I don't think they learned that in med school! Granted, Ben is pretty useless without his whacking stick, but that's mostly because the writers and producers know that the audience loves seeing Ben beaten to a bloody pulp...kinda like the way they know audiences don't like seeing Kate getting beat up. The Others are also pretty well read. Ben reads Fyodor Dostoyevsky and can quote lenghty passages of Of Mice and Men.

My point is, do NOT underestimate the Others. Have you forgotten the hillbilly clothes, the fake beards, and the teepees? It was all an act. They WANT outsiders to underestimate them, because it gives them the advantage. I think their education goes far beyond what you might think...

TooBlu I couldn't begin to answer that question, I don't even remember the guy, but if they used the same character in several places like that he would almost have to be an Other.

S.I.A.D., OK, the Others have a good education for their survival and defense of the island, however I don't think CW's business acumen would be obtained from the island school so readily. My point was that I think there is a source of revenue about the island that allows the Others to have so much power on the outside. It is possible that all of them end up getting Ivy league educations but it just didn't seem that way with the scene of the kids in a classroom watching the teacher showing them a volcano erupting with baking soda or something. If you live on a volcanic island you probably won't be convinced by that display.

I do feel that the bows and arrows weren't for show in that more recent episode but maybe they were. But for what point? The island is like Hotel California, once you check in you don't check out; they have no qualms about killing people to protect whatever they are protecting.

If they were so advanced wouldn't they have copied those VCR tapes to Blu-ray?
