Got any really trustworthy friends in the US? Give them cash to order it and have them ship it to you. DeepDiscount has free shipping, but you're looking at $50?? shipping from the states to you...

Hey, nice speakers 4x12. If you get the black sub12, the colors will match nicely without grills.

Thank dude... the Energy's are great speakers. I'd like to upgrade my fronts to some C-9's (flagship series of the connoisseurs line) but finding them isnt an easy thing to do and shipping is killer also.

If I can't find someone in Canada or someone who will ship the Sub12 over here your suggestion might be my only option.

Does Acoustic Audio have a website or something ? Couldn't find one last night.

They are only sold directly by Deep Discount or through their Ebay store. Check Post #1.

Thanks BD. Just noticed that...

I honestly don't understand why sellers (ebay or anyone else for that matter)will limit themself to USA or Canada only! Someones willing to give you his hard earned cash and you refuse it ? doesnt seem like a proper business sense to me.

Ill keep you posted if I end up grabbing one of these or not.

thanks for the help.

Aren't those speakers you have like 2-3 generations old now? Finding them must be really difficult...... but they do look nice. I love mine too..

ok, so after reading some reviews about the AA subs and checking out JJ's & BD's detailed reviews
about these units, I made a decision and pulled the trigger, I gots a nice AA HD-SUB12 in black. I need to match the Energy C5's. Theres a warm feeling inside of me that wasnt there before

Getting it is a pain in the ass tho... Since they won't ship to Canada (no matter what) I had to find someone and forward the cash and them receive it and send it back to me. I really hate having somehitng out in transport for that amount of time but its this or nothing!!

I'm expecting it to arrive in about a week or two... but hey, at least i'm getting another guitar this week so the "wait" wont be as bad! When I told the WAF (as many of you call them fine creatures) about the purchase I got this stare (a sqinting look) that was followed by silence and then a question... "how much"... cheap baby, real cheap! was my answer.

So thanks to BD, JJ and everone else who posted good reviews on these units. Y'all helped me purchase my 1st sub ! Pron to come!

Congratulation and good luck on the shipping. Hopefully, they won't damage anything.

Hey Big D,

Can you give me the specs of that riser you made for the SUB12 ?
Just the top plate is what I need really. I guess you raised it about
2 inches right ?

thanks.

Joe

Hi Joe,

I raised all 4 subwoofers in my room about one foot. You can find details in the middle of Post #2 in the Repairing & Upgrading Subwoofers thread.

The actual size of the subwoofer is 15" x 15". You have to allow about an inch for the grille. That makes it 15" x 16". The two square risers that I built are 20" x 20". The reason was because one of them had to go under a 15" subwoofer. You can make yours a little smaller.

Just to add my experience of building the riser for my AA sub: I cut a 16" x 17" piece (from a 5/8" thick x 16" x 36" plywood for $6 at Lowes) to serve as the top of the riser for my AA 12" and it fits perfectly. I cut 16" sections of regular 2x4's and placed them length wise under the 16" x 17" top to act as legs and secured them with drywall screws. The sub sits about 5"-6" above the floor. I purchased a black suede type of cloth from the fabric store ($11 per yard) and covered the top and legs using staples where they are not visible. Finally, I used an old black thick rubber exercise mat and cut four 2" x 1.5" pieces and screwed them into the four corners of the riser to act as rubber stops. Because of the black suede material and the perfect fit, the end result was a very professional/expensive looking riser which cost me about $9 (I made a second with the extra material for my other sub) and about 2 hours of my time.

My room is 14' x 15' and this sub sounds GREAT when I open'er up. I say enjoy.

(Unless you have attached neighbors to worry about - then just keep an eye on the volume)
