use the C-200 as surrounds and the C-100s as SB's.

honestly though a pair of C-200s (or any high quality bookshelf) if you are using them in an 80% HT setting will be just fine. Towers are typically better for 2-channel music so you get the lower extension in 2 channel, since HT uses subs and crossovers, there is less need for full-range speakers. Perhaps you can just get a pair of C-50s for SB duty from http://www.wwstereo.com for about $90 and you would be just fine.

looks as if I may be getting an eD A2-300 sub in a couple months. Wife approved it. She seen it and said it looks nice, and I can get it. I am getting a couple checks in feb and march so I am getting nervous.... anxious really. Now I will have a real sub finally. Not that the AA is terrible, but the eD will be a high quality sub.

the eD will definitely be a step up from the aa. i'm contemplating on how to replace my aa at the moment. i've only had it for a few weeks, but if i'd known i would have 4x the money to spend on a 2nd sub now, i would have just held off adding the hd sub-10.

don't just limit yourself to eD though. outlaw subs normally go on sale around when you'll have your funds together. they blow out lfm-1 pluses for $419, and these puppies are pretty much a hsu vtf2 mk3 with downfiring ports(great childproofing). if i can be patient and the sale comes around again, then i'll be adding one of these to the a2-300...

Well I will keep that in mind. I looked at the Hsu's also, but then again the price on them was higher and there was shipping charges. I want to keep the price low so that I can perhaps get a new 3-n-1 TV/Audio stand also. I am hoping that the wife will bend on my doing more then just the sub... but the more I spend on the Sub, the less I have for a new stand.... So, if I can do both, it will be the one that costs the least. However if it is just one, then I will get whichever I prefer the best... and the WAF has to be considered, she likes the look and size of the eD already.

she's a good woman to like the look and size of the a2-300. my wife, on the other hand, does not like the look or girth of the a2-300 one bit. thankfully, i'm allowed a few vices, so i have my current a2-300 in the corner somewhat out of the way. the other day i mentioned i may be thinking about adding another a2-300, and i just got the stare. so whatever sub i get will have to be smaller than my current eD sub. i've narrowed down the search somewhat to a martin logan dynamo, an eD a3s-250, a hsu stf-2(which i've had before and loved), an svs pb-10nsd, or an outlaw lfm-1 plus.

the lfm-1 plus currently tops my list of wants, but until they're on sale, the cheapest way to attain one of those is a $474 b-stock model. $474 is pushing my budget just a bit, because like you said, i'd like to buy some more stuff too with my fun money(harmony one being at the top of that list)...

yes she is a good woman. I don't know how you will sneak the LFM-1 Plus in there... it is bigger then the A2-300, I dont know if that would be OK in my place.... The Dynamo is a great sub, small but powerful. I see know they have 3 different one, the mid level one is the same as the older single Dynamo, although I would think it probably only goes down to about 24hz on the Dynamo 500, 29hz on the Dynamo 700. I think the SVS is nice too but I am not paying $450 and then $72 shipping.

I think the eD will end up being my choice.

Hey guys,

Do you think these speaker stands would work for my C100's?
http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo...%20%20%2016BLK

Again this is for my rear setup.

can't really go wrong w/ the eD. it took me a while to get used to its sound, and i had to tweak it a lot more than i thought i would have to. but it's now an integral part of the ht. it would be nice if svs would give somewhat of a discount on shipping. the thought of spending $449 plus another $60 or so to have that item shipped is a lot to stomach. i'd love an svs pb12-nsd or hsu vtf 3 mk3, but can't really justify spending over $600. but the great thing is, the a2-300's performance comes pretty close to the svs and hsu at over $300less.

i think i may be able to get away with sneaking an lfm-1 plus in because i probably could stash it right behind my couch. it's not as wide as the a2-300. i guess i'd have to do some measurements. but if i do end up w/ the outlaw, i'd have to budget another $50 for another gramma pad on my hardwood floors. i tried my hand at a dynamo on audiogon last night but was shot down by a seller who refused to budge on price. ah well, something will pop up as long as i'm patient.

Looks nice but only down side is the size of the platform where the speaker lays it's only 5x5 inches but with very little effort you coud screw some MDF on em and make some sort of anchor to hold the speakers in place.

Now I'm looking at this one.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

I was looking at the pics from that link and my Energy Speakers C100 are about an inch bigger than this guys speakers.

If that doesn't work out... what other should you suggest?

I'm not looking for anything expensive at this time. Cheap and simple.

It's gonna work but the ones at amazon are the same BF 24 B most likely stand for Basic Foundation 24 inches Black. Find out if 24 inches in high enough for your needs. As I said I'm sure they can easily be modified in the worse case scenario.

i know these are not cheap at the moment(the 36" titanium stands):

http://www.amazon.com/s?url=search-a...ands&x=11&y=20

but they have been known to go on sale for 39.99 w/ free shipping(that's when i bought mine). they are a great fit for my c-100s. i just spray painted them black w/ metallic paint. they also look very nice and are well made. you can check out how they look w/ the c-100s in my gallery...

Yea, see I can see spending almost 300 more for basically what seems like the same sub... I don't think my wife would either... plus if I can spend the extra 300 I would like to either sell my sony and get a Marantz 5003/5004 or a new 3-n-1 TV/AV rack. I want to get the best that I can while still maximizing my funds. Even when I looked up the Outlaw last night, say it was gonna be $419 on sale, and then they wanted $50 dollars to ship also... That is where the eD is coming in as the clear winner.

What do you mean by the sound of the eD? And how does it sound paired with your Energys? Zippo said that the Energys match well with all the subs he has, and he has like 4 different subs, SVS PC-12, ML Dynamo, eD A2-300 and a Premier Acoustics PA-120.

http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo...umber=MLDYNAMO Here is the old one on sale.
and the Abyss
http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MLABYSS

For music the Dynamo has been one of the best and fastest Subs I have heard. And during Transformers it was hitting harder then the Def Tech supercube at BB...

How is the eD at music?

actually, if outlaw has their sale again at the same time this year, they don't charge shipping on their a-stock gear. they have free shipping on their b-stock gear year round it seems. i was curious to see what shipping would be on a brand new lfm-1 plus, and it came out to over $70! add that to the brand new price of a plus at $549...quite the pretty penny. outlaw does however seem to have 20% off sales w/ free shipping twice a year. so if i can hold out, that's where i'll look.

the a2-300 sounds fine w/ my energys. it just took me a while to adjust from what i had before, a hsu stf-2. the hsu was a much more musical sub and had higher output in the mid and upper bass regions(tuned to 25hz). the a2-300 is tuned lower(18hz) and did not have the musicality(sp?) of my hsu sub. that's not to say it doesn't sound good w/ music. the hsu was just a better performer in that area. the newer amp on the a2-300 also requires some more tweaking than their amps on earlier units. there's evidence of this on the official eD thread. alot of people got their a2-300s w/ the newer amps around the time i got mine, and there was a lot of wondering how to get the best sound out of it. the guys at eD were very helpful though as well as this board. suffice it to say, i'm happy w/ my eD now, and i may go w/ them again in my 2nd sub upgrade. the a3s-250 seems like it would be exactly what i'm looking for. i just have to do a little more real world research before pulling the trigger. the ml dynamo has been around a long while and has a proven track record, the newer eD not so much. of course i could just buy another stf-2, decisions...driving me mad...

oh my, just realized how much i typed. slow end of yr at work can yield all the time in the world...
