Have you contacted them to find out what the holdup is? This would be completely comical if it weren't so frustrating for so many people. I can't believe Shout didn't get their orders out before other retailers. I didn't buy from them because I don't like their shipping practices and I didn't need all the extra stuff, but I feel for people who did use them.

Yeah, I e-mailed them Tuesday politely asking them to please ship my order. Still haven't heard anything.

I’ve emailed them as well expressing my frustration in a polite manner. I’ve received no response yet.
Apparently they aren’t responding or replying to people on Twitter. I’m expecting a vague mass form letter tomorrow attempting to explain what the new holdup is.

Does anyone know which release contains the old Criterion commentary?

The 2007 Blu-ray has it (also included with the Lionsgate 4K).

I don't believe it's on any BD or 4K release aside from the 2007 BD. The Lionsgate 4K and 35th anniversary have a different commentary.

I don't think he meant it's on the Lionsgate 4K disc, it's that the BD included with the Lions UHD is indeed the old 2007 disc. (I've still got the old 'Divimax' DVD with the 1994 commentary on it so have no need for the old BD.)

Ah, it looks like the standard 4K release does have the 2007 disc. My steelbook has the 35th Anniversary disc. Weird, since it makes no mention of the different features on the back of the case on the standard disc release.

My copy just has the old disc with new disc art.

Same here. Joe Blow doesn't know this they all get fooled by the disc art LOL. Don't judge a disc by its cover broski, but by the content of their hearts. Bots I tell ya.

Watched and enjoyed this 4K disc last night for the third time in the last two weeks; fourth time if you include skipping through different scenes for an hour, on the day I bought it. But last night was the first time with the wife. She always kinda thinks I'm nuts with all my constant re-buying of titles and upgrading format-to-format, but she was pretty blown away by how this looks -- and this is from someone who barely noticed the difference between DVD and Blu-ray when we made that transition. I didn't even have to ask her; during the movie, she volunteered: "wow, yeah this really does look better".

And remember, I remain the resident super-freak who's STILL enjoying the hell outta my old SDR 1080p projector (it looks SO FILM-LIKE, I'll never let it go buahahaha), so I'm down-converting all 4K titles with my trusty Oppo 203. Whatever magic is happening in that machine, it seems to be retaining the "good" that is being done by DolbyVision before down-converting to SDR, 'cuz I'm absolutely seeing NONE of the weird compression artifacts on my 92-inch screen. Similarly, in H2, I absolutely do NOT see "The Glitch" during normal playback. Kinda cool that DolbyVision can still do some of its magic, even in my eccentric SDR setup.

As a fun tangent... one detail in Halloween I've only noticed this year (after watching this movie at least once a year -- usually twice -- for the past 40 years) is the toy fire truck in front of the television, during the opening Panaglide sequence. Amusing to think that must be Michael's, and to imagine Evil playing with a toy truck.

Although the DV means that you can't output a 1080p24 signal from such discs on your setup, AFAIK it's not converting the DV or otherwise has anything to do with it, it's still just converting the HDR10 base layer. Why you don't see the artefacts even at 92" is as much to do with the 1080p downconversion as anything IMO, you're losing 75% of the resolution of the 2160p and that's likely obfuscating the artefacts. I've done the same thing before when tearing my hair out trying to tone down the dreadful chroma noise in the UHD of Brade Runnah; busting it down to 1080p helped.

Interesting. I thought differently because I'm seeing very fine (and very pleasing) film grain EVERYwhere... and based on some of those caps, I would expect it all to be smeared away. I'm not seeing ANY smearing of grain or ANY weird clumps; it's all very organic and film-like -- and I'm pretty obsessed with grain. Plus, as I said in my post, I'm absolutely definitely NOT seeing the glitch in H2. In any case... whatever's goin' on... I'm diggin' it.

Yeah...I got that vinyl release a couple days ago.

I did just get a shipping notice from Sacred Bones for the 3 box sets today- it's just a label creation / tracking # for now, but at least it's something....

These could actually get here by Halloween.

Could you post the estimated arrival date when you get it? I’ll cancel my shout order this weekend

It's fine if you hate it - everyone's opinion and all that - but "nobody in my house is allowed to watch part 3"...I really hope that is hyperbole.
