Brakhage review is up:

http://criterionforum.org/DVD-review...collection/693

If I had a dollar for every time that reviewer uses the phrase "a touch of" in his reviews I'd be a millionaire.

Amazon is a vendor, not your personal assistant. I'm not trying to be shitty, but that is the way it is.
I got a reply from customer service. The agent said I should not have been charged for shipping and also apologized for not providing me with second day shipping,. He refunded my shipping charges and also gave me free overnight shipping on my next order.

Just got an email from Criterion informing me that my "400 Blows" replacement case is on its way via USPS first class. That is good customer service. Thank you Giles Sherwood.

Giles processed my order, too. One can always trust someone who has two last names

And that petty elitism is why you rub people the wrong way in this thread. People aren't solely defined by what movies they like...

And I was kidding. That band isn't hard to see live...A quality print of LYAM on the big screen is...the decision seems easy...

The screening was for the 'documentary'

I wonder how some places set their prices at times. Granted I am not an expert on Criterion like some of who but it's strange.

I decided to go during my lunch here downtown to Metro Video. It's one of the rare places where I can find Criterion outside of Amazon. I was looking at the selection and they had Monsoon Weeding, the DVD at $44. I am confuse since you can actually get the Blu-ray for about $32. Is there things in certain Criterion DVD releases that make them such collector's items to justify the prices? I find it strange that a DVD release would be almost $12 more then the Blu-ray.

OMG! I just can't wait! This movie really deserves a Blu ray release. Hope it won't take long to release...

Unique to some, pretentious first year film student without a clue to others...but at least our Mets took 2 of 3 and Bay is looking like Bay...

Hey CG, does it blow your effin' mind that Beta and I like baseball? The horror! Criterion fans who like foreign and independent cinema rubbing elbows with the lowly summer blockbuster fans at sporting events!

Went to B&N to pick up the Brakhage set earlier thanks to the coupon Powell provided! Thank you Powell. I love the packaging!

Also, I got my order from criterion today which was supposed to be Stagecoach and M, but instead of M they accidentally sent me Walkabout which I already have.

just contact criterion, they will be able to send you a booklet. They still retain rights to all their packaging and booklets even if they lost them from the movie

I thought HMV were finally getting good at getting in Criterion Blu-Ray here but guess they too like all other stores here are back to being worthless. Didn't get M in and now Stagecoach (Red Dead Redemption had me even more hyped to watch this today too ). I prefer buying in store even if it means paying more since it makes exchanges easier and after Walkabout I am not putting much faith in Criterion. The thing I don't get is one HMV location here did get in one copy of Brakhage and I have it on hold so now to go way out of my way to pick that up. M and Stagecoach I am sure would have a bigger market than this will have but they decided to get this in and not those?

Locally I have Best Buy and Ultimate Electronics that price most new Criterion Blus between $28-32. Usually one will have the other if the other does not...

That is cool the coupon worked for you. I know some people won't take them cause it is a renewel coupon for membership to get the 20% off, but usually if you play dumb and be like oh I did renew they e-mailed me the coupon they will take it. Some can be sticklers.

Yeah the packaging is nice on the By Brakhage is really nice as long as it isn't dinged up. I saw two sets at Barnes and both were in mint condition.

I wish the paper stock for the outer case was a little bit more thick / sturdy. But I can't complain Really nice case.

As long as you keep making smart comments, I'll keep coming back. Never went to film school, don't need people telling me what is good or not. Thought you knew that. Also and I like football so who cares if you like baseball.

Oh, and what would of happened if I quoted someone and said "Epic Fail" like some kid? I would get bashed. You did, I said something about it, and now I get bashed. People bashed Godard on here and his movies, no one says anything. I have opinions on Kurosawa and get bashed.

Outside of OOP titles, titles released on Blu by large studios the DVD was licensed from (Universal: Spartacus, Do the Right Thing, etc.; Disney: Armageddon, The Rock, etc.), and titles shot on SD video (Beastie Boys Video Anthology, Hoop Dreams), my guess would be any of the DVD only releases since they started releasing Blu-ray (Spine #'s 450 and on).

Outside of those, among my favorites, I simply don't see them getting a better working relationship with the Russian film archives in order to release Ivan the Terrible Part I & II and Alexander Nevsky on Blu. I can't see the market being open to some of the great documentaries, either, such as Burden of Dreams, Grey Gardens or F for Fake, though the Blu-ray of Crumb gives some hope.

But my most wanted title that stands to be a long wait for a Blu-ray release, in my mind, is Big Deal on Madonna Street. Love that film, but not exactly a popular enough title to see a Blu in the near future.
