A noble effort on the part of both of you.
![]() Even I have been trying to soften the tone of my responses to a certain someone. Hopefully, all of our efforts will become habit forming. Last edited by Vilya; 07-17-2018 at 06:19 PM. |

That said, it’s affordable for a lot of people. You can get decent tri-pod screens at staples for $150, the blow ups are around $200 for a 100 inch one from Gemmy. I bought a “drive thru” screen from AliBaba and have been pleased. Epson has a discount eBay, I bought my first projector there. Anyone looking to start out it’s a good place to check. Steels right tho, watching movies in bubbles beats all this. |

Thank you for doing all that. While I appreciate all the leg work you’ve done for me, it is totally unnecessary. Since I’ve already said I won’t know what I’ve got until I get in the house and right now this is such a low priority in my long list of things to accomplish. |

IIRC, it has been mentioned that Oppo is exiting the UHD BD market and that is true. Their exit was used as an example that folks no longer supported physical media. For folks that believe it to be true, care to comment on 3 new high end UHD BD players being brought to market. Panasonic thread here and Pioneer thread here.

If he doesn't see a product on the sales floor at his local Walmart, then no one is buying said product. If his relations do not own one, then no one does. Sales data means nothing, anecdotes prove everything. Data is "manipulated" when it does not corroborate what he believes. It would be be easier to engrave a block of granite with a soggy egg noodle than to change his mind with something so irrelevant as facts. ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 07-18-2018 at 04:50 PM. |

There is a new thread reporting that Walmart might be getting into the subscription streaming business and it would possibly be priced at less than $8 per month. There might also be a free service supported by ads. It will be interesting to see if this actually happens and what effect it will have on existing subscription streaming services.

![]() ![]() I just wanted folks to know there seems to be someone always supplying products that that some of us desire. It will be interesting to see how the Panny and Pioneer stack up against Oppo. I have a request in to Oppo to provide a feature to select HDR10 when playing Dolby Vision titles so the user can use the video adjustments. Also requested a discrete IR code for direct Nit Adjustment. Oppo responded they would look into providing these features. |

About the only persistent negative aspect, allegedly, of the Panasonic models have to do with their ability to play and upscale DVDs. I have read a number of comments in the forums here that Panasonic does a rather poor job with DVDs. I would investigate Panasonic thoroughly before buying one. Sorry about that coffee! Even when I am at my most cantankerous, I do not wish to cause 2nd or 3rd degree burns. ![]() |

Moved from Panny to LG (several years ago), then added Sony and Oppo. Did this because of poor IP control of the Pannys. LG, Sony and Oppo have much better IP control. With their Android apps I can play my music files (via playlist) from my media server (Synology), no monitor needed. To date, Panasonic has not updated their Android app since 2012 and that one will only do basic remote control functions.

Doesn’t it feel like Walmart is doing its best to compete or catch up with Amazon? I can’t speak for anyone else, but I don’t like that Walmart changed their “Lowest Price Guarantee” to “We only price match Walmart dot com” policy in stores. It has influenced my shopping and made me shop their competition up until the move. The problem here is, they are the only big box in our home town and you have to go to the bigger towns to find both Target and Best Buy. As far as the constant physical media sections shrinking in brick and mortars? I think it has more to do with maximizing space. So we need to stop using that and personal experiences as an argument. Because every store is different depending on where you live and who’s the big dog there.
