And I have to agree whole Heartedly "The Year Without a Santa Claus" is a classic.
The Miser Brothers(Heat Miser and Cold Miser) help make that movie with their little song and dance routines.

And seeing the Origin of Santa Claus with Fred Astaire as the Mailman in "Santa Claus is Coming To Town" is so wonderful.

I used to Love watching those so much more then I do now.And I mean even just a few years ago.But I will make sure I see them, this year,as in every year.

I do have to get National Lampoons "Christmas Vacation" .
My Dad and I simply Love it to Death. My Mom doesn't care about it.But we try to catch it on TV every year.

This year I think I will buy the standard DVD(even though they have it on Blu-Ray).And I can start a Guaranteed Yearly Tradition in watching that Movie at a certain Weekend or Day of the Holiday Season.

I do know,I am going to start reading some more reviews today and prepare for a few purchases today.A little practice and preperation for Tomorrow and Especially Friday.(And I can't forget about Cyber Monday)

And one late minute addition Office Max has an Epson EX30 SVGA Projector for $399.99. Shame its not at leasta 720p projector. If so that would have to be the Video Deal of the Season for a Home Theater.

A Christmas Story is my absolute favorite. Watch every year.

Polar Express is a great new classic.

All the Rankin Bass videos are a must, picked up 2 box sets last couple years. The Original Christmas Classics and Classic Christmas Favorites Gotta get around to watching them all. I need these because not shown in Taiwan.

Yeah, you gotta get them Travis. By the way, a Christmas Story is a best "classic" Christmas movie in my opinion. I like it better than Miracle on 34th Street, Scrooge, etc.....(I can't remember the name of the all time classic with Henry Fonda.....duh?)

Mike,

Pretty good. I guess I can say wonderful. Definitely, happier now that I got my new AVR and my center speaker raised.

Thanks for asking,

Thats it, thanks Mike.....I only watched that movie once.......and it was a long time ago. It seems everyone loves that movie, which would explain why I don't make it a tradition in our house.....as I don't like to do what most everyone else does. It just seems everyone has this movie as their "must watch" and I have always gone away from the masses......but it is a good movie, just not one I need to make a tradition out of, since so many others do.

Well I was commenting to Forsberg that OfficeMax has a Projector for $399.99 on Sale Black Friday.
Its the Epson EX-30.Its kind of a business style projector with high brightness levels and a small built in speaker.

Well I looked it up on Projector Central and it does do an HD Image: 720p/1080i .Its a 4:3 Ratio but when using the projection calculator it allowed me to switch it into 16:9 ratio mode.

So I cant say for sure. But if it is possible to change the aspect ratio inbetween 4:3 to 16:9, then you could probably make this a HD Home Theater Projector.

I would have to research it.And I dont know if it has an HDMI Jack.If not the Component Video Connections(The One with 3 Video Cables and Plugs can be used, and will carry an HD Signal and Image)

So if anyone who reads this is interested, try doing a little searching for information on the Epson EX30.

You may be able to use this $399.99 projector in a HD Home Theater. If you can, then a projector for this price would and could be the find of the Holiday Season.

My PJ is SVGA. The screen is 4:3.

When I watch widescreen, like 2.35:1, it will project the film and bars. In the beginning the bars were grey, so I had the movie framed with grey bars and then black bars. After adjusting I got the grey bars a little darker and then blend into the black bars. I always set it on native for BDs and 16:9 for DVDs. Haven't used it in a while because after I set it up I have to put it away. Dog and wires problem, and it is supposed to be used at work. Very rarely has it been.

TV shows look great we watched all the Lost DVDs and 2 1/2 men we could rent over a couple months, it wasn't HD but it was good.

Also mine hasn't got HDMI, I use component video plug and plug the RGB plugs into an adapter that goes to the scart/vga/PC socket.

It is good but for BD, but I prefer the 32" TV. But for DVDs it is wonderful and Madden also. For $399 I'd say it is worth it.

I hope as low as in the store.

Last Black Friday I was able to Buy my BD-Player online from Best Buy.It was one of the Limited Items only on sale for the first few hours they were opened for.

So,I was able to buy it online for in-store pick-up.So later that day when the crowds were gone I went and picked it up.
I dont know if you can do that with all the Big Draw Items at Best Buy,but you could last year.

So I will be online at 12AM Friday Morning going to each and every site I can.
It would be awesome if the On Sale from 5am-11am items could be bought online and picked up or shipped again this Black Friday.
If so I hope all of the $10.00 Blu-Rays at Best Buy can be bought that way.
Then around 2PM or 3PM I can go in and pick-up the Blu-Rays I selected.

I am almost sure you cant do this at Wal Mart or other stores(But it never hurts to try)

But every year it seems more and more awesome deals and prices are found online all week(but especially Thursday and Friday)
And then the newer Shopping Day:Cyber Monday.

Thanks for the input Travis.

It states that it does Project an HD Image (720p/1080i)which makes it very attractive for the price.
I appreciate you explaining how the Letterboxing appears and the ability to switch to 16:9.And also the recommendation to get it for the price.

I would think if you had a very tight or limited budget(like myself)then this projector in 720p or 1080i would provide a nice image with a Blu-Ray Player.

Get a screen for a little less the $100(or a little more, depending on what size image you have the throw distance for)And include the Component Video Cables(which MonoPrice has their Heavy Duty 25ft Length Component Video Cables for @$18.00)

So with everything(projector, screen, cables) you could be looking at a set-up(brand New) for around $500.00.And that is an extremely attractive target figure for a projector set-up and an Image of 70 inches to 110 inches.

Speaking of a "Christmas Story",I wonder how the new remake with Jim Carey in the Starring Role as Scrooge is.

I would imagine the Special Effects and the Ghosts and other CGI Parts of the Movie would be First Rate with today's technology.

I am not planning on going to the Theaters to see it.But I would guess I may want to watch it next year. So ,its a movie to add to the list to see.

Its always possible that a new movie, like this one.Could be a Holiday Tradition for a Family or Two.(Maybe Yours and/or Mine)

Mine I believe makes the same statement, but native is 800x600 and can't increase. I think it means it will accept 720p and 1080i signals. HDReady. Mine is Optoma U3, model number for Taiwan and UK, US model is DV11, the same thing.

My SVGA is nice with BDs, I just like the extra clarity from the small TV. but the big screen and the theater experience does make up for it and it is agreat way to spend a Friday night.

If I was in the market and wanted to get started with a PJ and was on a budget, no doubt about it, BUY! BUY! BUY! I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.Full HD PQ and AQ is great, but I can understand it isn't for everyone, not so picky and not willing to spend the cash. I am still not getting the HD picture.

I hope next X-mas to talk my wife into a 1080p PJ, this years present is the Marantz, last year was PS3. I manage to get the stuff a month before X-mas.

Todd,

You and the others have been very helpful in helping me with my AVR and setup. If I can answer any questions about a SVGA PJ please ask. I would love to help.

I'm thinking of A Christmas Story with the BB gun, leg lamp, Scott Farcus with the yellow eyes.

You are right the new Jim Carey A Christmas Carol will be great hopefully, I love Polar Express, hopefully they can catch the same feeling.

Thank You Sincerely for the Help,Travis,my Friend.

Heres a link to the webpage for this projector:
http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/c...egory=Products

I may be wrong but it looks as if its showing in the specs and stating in the Benefits that it can produce(or reproduce) a HD Image.

I am not too concerned about it much.My main drive here is to see if I can open an option for an inexpensive projector/screen system that would project at least a 720p HD Image.

Someone here or there may find it useful and see an oppertunity to have a modest HD Projection system, like I have.
Because mine is very modest.
An older LCD Projector with a Native 16:9 ccd chipset. And a Native resolution of 720p/1080i. Then a cable set about $24.00 with shipping included. An Elite Screens 16:9 Manual Widescreen thats 84 inches Diagonal Sized with the Optional 6inch Multi-Mount Wall Brackets from Elite Screens.A Garage Shelving Unit(From Lowes Home Improvement) for the Projectors Stand. And plugged into a Panamax Max6 Power Protection System.

But even this modest and smaller sized(approximately an 80 inch diagonal Image at 16:9 and set to 720p/1080i) is simply Amazing with the Video It Produces from My Blu-Ray Player.

I mean I Love it.
But its also one of the least expensive and smallest sized Image of Probably any Projection System in the Forum. But even that is so Amazing it what it does to Improve the True Theater feel of Watching a Movie,I wish everyone(at least everyone that would want one) could have the oppertunity to have one.

And to also know that the Multi-Thousand Dollar Projector and Screen Systems are Awesome,Amazing, and Incredible. They are worth Every Penny and Make a Home Theater a Real Theater with an Image that Rivals the Finest Commercial Cinemas.

But the low priced, low end of the HD projection spectrum is well worth owning and a fine addition and video system for any Home Theater.
