Yeah I grabbed them at Best Buy when they dropped to $14.99 each thinking it would take a while to even see a $9.99 price Past the return window now though. Ah well, I did use $20 in gift cards at BBY so it doesn't sting quite as much But still, somehow I knew I should have waited.....lesson learned!

Well I'll not pre-order AB titles anymore and just wait till they drop the price months after release.

I keep telling you guys, all you have to do is wait. There is no way, I would've paid $20.00 a piece for these movies. Now, what possessed you to pre-order these blu-rays for $19.99 each anyway? You should have known they were going to drop down in price considerably down the road. Patience is a virtue!

Right on that. I loved that you used "possessed" in that manner. I hope it meant we sometimes just want to have things as fast as humanly possible no matter what it may cost. Waiting is key, no matter how painful it can be.

From the review's I've read they're just barely better than the DVDs as far as the A/V goes. "Halloween 4" is missing some of the 'Divimax' edition special features. But, now that Amazon nearly cut the price in half I couldn't pass up buying the pair, until this point the DVDs were satisfactory but now the price is right. Also it's hard to think these will be re-issued down the road with better A/V, I mean let's face it, these are 80's catalog titles, I can't see a studio finding better transfers and releasing them.

All we need now is that "Halloween" TV cut on blu-ray.

These are $7.99 each on Amazon now. Forget running around to all my local Walmarts which hasn't turned up anything. Just placed the order and don't have to deal with tax either. Pretty sweet.

Same here (since my Wal-Mart sucks). Now all I need is the sixth movie and I'll finally have them all.

I've been debating on picking up part 4 and 5. I haven't seen these since it's been on cable years and years ago. So i vaguely remember them. How do they hold up?
Does the stories have a huge drop in quality compared to the first two? I mean i am pretty easy to please.
If i can enjoy the ANOES and F13th sequels, i will probably enjoy these. Just curious how they stack up compared to the other series.

There is a drop in quality in the 5th one. (IMHO, I love the fifth one to go with the 4th, even if the mask is all wrong)... but the 4th one is, for the majority of fans, on equal footing with the second one. At the current price points....go buy them, it's not like they aren't enjoyable on some level...

Part IV is excellent; I, IV, and VI I'd say are the spookiest/eeriest of the series. IV has the most in common with the original out of the sequels in terms of structure and atmosphere. V has some serious problems due to the script and the director's quirks, things that really hurt the film and the series as a whole; but the sequences meant for scares are quite solid, and the night scenes are well shot, plus the last scene with Jamie roaming the destroyed police station and her final defeated cry of "No." made for a creepy ending.

As others have said, number 4 is a terrific little slasher film. The on-screen body count is relatively low, and the film is more concerned with atmosphere than any of those that followed are. There are times when I think it might be better than the second one.

5 isn't the trainwreck I once thought it was, mostly thanks to the performances. If anything though, watching it serves to remind me just how good the fourth one is, and the fact that we haven't really had a better slasher film since. Have we? In John Kenneth Muir's "Horror Films of the 1980s", he points out that the fifth one takes just about everything the fourth one got right and screws it up. Hard to argue with that.

I had a feeling the prices of these would drop right around Halloween time, so I'm glad I held off to get them. Ordered my copies yesterday. I haven't seen 4 or 5 in quite some time, so I'm looking forward to revisiting them.

Well...no one's ever accused Wal-Mart of being timely or all that organized. Better late than never though!
