It really sounds like they're taking the Ultimate FF route with this. Which I'm fine with seeing.

Technically they already did the Ultimate Doom take with first one. With his flesh turning to metal and such.

Yup, what a waste and such a shame.

Even *if* this movie turns out to be decent (I won't hold my breath), whatever it is, it sure as hell is not going to be a Fantastic Four movie.

It's especially funny that, once Marvel found success with its crossovers, every studio jumped on the crossover bandwagon. You have Fox wanting to possibly do an X-Men/FF crossover. Except they don't understand that Marvel doesn't have the success they have just because they took a bunch of characters and threw them together -- which is what Fox would be doing if they made an FF/X-Men movie.

The FF and the X-Men rarely interacted in the comics. There were maybe two crossovers between the two groups and outside of that, never have had much to do with one another. And Fox apparently doesn't understand that if no one gives a crap about this FF, no one's going to care if they're put with the X-Men.

Fox also doesn't seem to understand that Marvel has found success by embracing the comics. They don't shy away from the costumes, the code names, or the more outlandish, fantastical elements. They make it work. Whereas Fox is apparently ashamed of the material, so they want to make it "real and gritty."

Real and gritty =/= grounded. Iron Man was grounded while at the same time embracing the comics and the fantasy elements. When I hear "real and gritty" I think of Batman Begins, a tone that would not fit the FF at all. Works great for Batman or the Punisher or a Wolverine movie, but not the FF.

New interview with Kate Mara at Actor's Forum:

"yes, I do get a costume but I think it's cool that my superpower is just an emotional one. I don't actually turn invisible - my character is an insecure wallflower - no one ever notices me. I can sneak around, I could probably even walk around naked but even so no one would probably notice me. I've been doing some training - keeping my arms tight without swinging them when I walk, looking down not making eye contact, walking with a tight uncomfortable posture. Some of the makeup artists have walked right by me not noticing that it was me!"

Wtf... Was it known that the invisible girl was not going to be actually invisible?

Holy mother... They actually redid that guy in female form for FF

Wow, I just re-read the article. So she doesn't turn invisible? It's just nobody ever notices her? What the hell? Seriously?

Sorry for all the questions.

I actually was optimistic in the face of the Michael B. Jordan controversy (which I still have no problem with) but these latest developments? This is sounding more and more DOA.

C'mon guys the excerpt from the "interview" was in jest!

Bad sign when a poster's ridiculous post is taken seriously by fans who CAN believe it can be worse than it already is.

New Miles Teller interview with Charles Merriman of Entertainment Times:

Charles: so you can't actually stretch your body parts?

Miles: well, technically no...but did you ever drop something behind a couch or bed and your family member tried to reach under but couldn't get it? Well, Mister Fantastic is the the type of person that can reach his hand under the couch and reach for those keys or ball, touch it with the tips of the finger, and finally grasp the object. It's like the person that gets a boost of adrenaline and can lift a car up. I can reach for things and just be able to grasp what im looking for.

Charles: so this is a more realistic take on the Fantastic Four?

Miles: Yes, a more realistic, grounded approach...sort of like four Bruce Willis characters from Unbreakable.

I guess I'm the only person looking forward to this. Can't wait to see it in a packed empty theater!

You killed your own joke. Congrats

Also wasn't the director the one who ripped the superman movies? Or something of that sort? Very hypocritical if you ask me

I'm at the point where I'm just really curious to see how this movie actually turns out.

It'll be a car crash movie - you'll see it just to see how bad it really is.
