I mean, if the Friday the 13th were mostly set in LA or Texas, then I understand. But Camp Crystal Lake is located in New Jersey.

Jason should have given Jimmy a fighting chance. Jimmy would have totally destroyed Jason.

The other lawsuit is still ongoing. Put a bow on this series it is probably done with.

From that article

The Friday the 13th franchise has grossed more than $129 million, according to the complaint.

That has to be a mistake right?

That is the issue, that cannot be accurate. This is what he is complaining about. How has Friday the 13th only grossed 129 million.

I understand his complaint but as worded it still seems like an error. It says gross and not net, there's no way Paramount is asserting the whole franchise grossed only $129m.

Let me see if I can track down the complaint filling.

Wikipedia says this The films have grossed over $468 million at the box-office worldwide.

It could be 129 million domestically without inflation numbers or whatever.

so the first one made half of that, and $80M of that is the first 2?... yeah that's some bullshit they're trying to pull.

It wouldn't be F13th if there wasn't a problem with accuracy and continuity etc.

Who would have thought that the people who got the idea to rip off Halloween would feel like they've been ripped off after enjoying forty years of success through it.

---------------------

What do F13th fans expect the outcome from this to be if it goes well (for fans)? They're just going to make modern reboots, which the fans hated. Or they are going to take it in a completely different direction, which you're also going to hate. (besides giving it a pass because of one or two moments of gore and debating over the look of Jason which makes your continued preoccupation with the franchise seem worthwhile)

If I was a big Jason fan I would just stick with the fan made films. A movie studio is not really going to deliver anything more satisfying than those are. A bit of crowd funding to hire professional gore effects would probably nudge those efforts into F13 sequel quality range. Don't worry about having a threadbare script and below par acting. It never hurt F13th in the eyes of its fans before.

I'd say from part 8 continuity as in movies having some sort of link totally stopped as they try to bring Jason out of Crystal Lake or the weird larva possession thing or the 40 year cryinegenised Jason.
For me the 2009 movie is more part 12 than a reboot as it doesn't go a new(er) way or bring totally new elements that would wipe the old continuity, being a more generic Jason killing teenagers near Crystal Lake.

They discarded continuity immediately. According to part II, the legend of Jason has been talked about by the locals for ever. Yet in the original, all the locals talked about was the two murders in 58 and various fires and water poisonings. Nobody mentions Jason until the last minutes of the movie when Mrs Voorhees explains that his drowning was her motivation for those murders, fires and poisonings.

Never mind the fact that Jason was actually dead. Drowned. Not missing. The cops never saw anyone attacking the final girl as she claimed either.

Oh yeah then in part III, Mrs Voorhees shows up as a deformed, maggoty ghoul. But still with her head on. None of which makes any sense continuity wise.

And Jason changes plenty over each successive sequel. You would spend lest time listing all the things that are carried over accurately and remain in continuity over the course of the franchise.

It would be a missed opportunity if they don’t name the next Friday the 13th movie, Friday the XIIIth since it will be the 13th film in the franchise. It would be a nice callback to the era of Roman numerals for the sequels. Doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility considering the 10th film was named Jason X. They’re more lenient than even Fast & Furious with their naming system. It would also be great for marketing, a good name for a reboot, and a good way to differentiate itself from the ‘09 remake. Better than the title I read was last candidate, Friday the 13th: Part 13, which would suggest that the ‘09 remake was Part 12.

As for the story, I hope they take a Halloween 2018 smart approach to it, bring it up to date, and also give it some smart, humorous self-awareness like Part VI. Maybe bring back some of the beloved Final Girls as adult mentors/alumni ala Laurie Strode. I think Adrienne King and Amy Steel would be down to return. It should represent the best of all that came before it. I’m also a fan of a snowy camp setting that someone previously suggested, but maybe save that for the sequel to the reboot.

And yes, I know Alice was killed off at the beginning of Part II, but she was originally intended to return for the whole movie, but couldn’t due to unfortunate circumstances in her life at that time, so I think it would be cool for her to come back in a big way in the reboot. This series is pretty notorious for throwing continuity out the window anyway.

Would it not technically be the 14th movie?
