Either way the lack of easy viewing is precisely why I'm not keen on buying downloads. Too much of a faff to watch in the first place , too easy to lose and too much to go wrong. Apart from cost , a great advert for keeping physical discs going - so much easier and more reliable. I did buy one programme from Amazon who don't even allow you to keep downloads so what will happen to that programme in a few years remains a mystery |

This is still an excellent deal for those that haven't bought the series yet. Most seasons are $19.99 each on Amazon and more elsewhere. |

I don't mind renting downloads or watching Netflix but I will never ever buy a download to keep. If the market goes that way it just means no more spending. I suspect the market will reach a similar impasse to that of ebooks where they have now actually gone down in sales over the past year. There will always be a section of the market who want physical media and will simply stop buying if necessary. I agree that $20 is a great deal for the stragglers who would never have paid Bluray prices regardless. Thankfully Lionsgate saw the error of their ways after initially stopping at series 6 |

I did buy the Vudu back when I wasn't sure they were continuing with the Blu, but I do own all the Blu's and don't actually watch via Vudu. Not to rehash the same argument as has appeared in countless other threads, but since it was brought up, yes, the problem with buying on ALL of these streaming services is that you cannot download and watch on any device or player. You have to use their service or player (unless you hack the DRM). Ultraviolet (what Vudu uses) was SUPPOSED to have a "Common File Format" standard that would be released and many players and devices would support, but they axed that sometime back. Without this, to me buying digital (as opposed to renting which I'm totally cool with) is generally a very risky proposition - too risky for me to go buying my entire collection with it. But for one off extreme deals like this ($20 for 9 seasons), it's hard to go wrong even if the service goes away in 5 or 10 years or they pull your content years down the road. |

I haven't been able to find any reference to the quality of the complete iTunes Little House. The previews for all the seasons look to be of high quality. Does anyone know if the iTunes versions are any more complete than the Blu-Rays or if they suffer from any of the various problems discussed here with some of the DVDs?

I have a tape from the original NBC broadcast of The Last Farewell. I will have to find it and check it out. However, even if the singing is louder, that doesn't mean that the original film was that way. TV broadcasts are always equalized and volumes messed around with, to create an even audio experience.

I'm not saying you guys are wrong. I will check the original broadcast tape. All I am saying is that the singing was recorded live on set. Foreign language tracks are often louder. "The Sound of Music" comes to mind. The foley is MUCH louder on the foreign language tracks. You should be able to hear the singing more loudly on The Last Farewell, but it also sounds very natural like this as well. I'll let you know what I find out.

It's pretty obvious that the reduced volume is an error.
I doubt the original broadcast was the same but even if it was it's never been that way ever since whether that be broadcast , vhs or dvd- and the singing is the correct volume on the foreign tracks of the Blurays |

Little House on the Prairie Season 7 blu ray, have some questions on it. Ordered it and season 8 from Amazon. They both came in oversize cases. I ordered season 9 a few months ago and it came in a regular size blu ray case. Is this the same case everyone got or did i get unusual cases for these releases. Also my season 7 set on disc 2 the episode Portrait of Love - the subtitles are of the Lost Ones episode. Has anyone got the correct subtitles on their copy or should i request a new one?

And the subtitles... You're definitely not alone, that's one imperfection that's been overlooked here. I haven't mentioned it because it's a big step for me to write anything on any forum. But now that it's been mentioned, what kind of sandwich [Show spoiler]
