Universal didn't make them... The masters were all made by CBS.

I just received my set and it is absolutely glorious. Best $166 Australian I have spent on a BluRay TV show. I am rewatching Deadwood atm (season 2 right now) but I will smash out The Shield after that. Speaking of which, if Sony think that we need saving from Aceveda getting assaulted then I present them with Al Swearengen passing a kidney stone. I have never squirmed that much watching something on TV before lol.

Not that it is a big deal but I would have liked to have seen Anthony Anderson, Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker’s names make it onto the back page of the booklet in the “Special Thanks” section. Autumn Chiklis was left off too. For good reason Michael Jace was left off the list.

Probably because it is region free and he don't want to stir things by mentioning it in public.

edit: Depending on his answer to the reddit thread, I'm considering pulling the trigger and get it.
There's blood in PG-13 movies. Heck, they can say the F bomb a limited number of times as well in PG-13 but it can't be said in relation to sex.

Since it was future proofed for widescreen, I'm fine with it as presented. I really didn't notice any camera shadows or people that weren't in frame being at the edge before they entered scenes myself but maybe I was too involved in the moment of watching the show.

The change in composition works for some scenes over the OAR and vice versa. I will state though that the OAR did create a bit more tension for me because it "boxed" in the characters visually. Regardless, the transfer is fine the scenes that are censored don't impact the dramatic intent one bit--what happens STILL happens as to how graphic it is, it's how the characters play the scene that matter to me and they work without the additional shots either way.

1) The way you phrase it make it sound like the entire version is EU cut, which is wrong!
2) Investigation can take some time. He wants to have the facts straight and not jump to conclusions like some people do on this board.
3) Like I said in my earlier post; it is possible the entire US version got remastered, but someone else optef for a cut version and didnt tell Shawn. That is just my theory, but for now I'll give him benefit of the doubt. He was warned about the issue only a couple of days ago.
Ah okay, hope this gets squared away

I've been trying to get myself up to speed by reading through the past few pages of content since the boxsets release, but just had a few questions for those who have the set:

Is it definitely region free?
What is the picture and sound quality like over the DVDs (there has been hardly any discussion of this at all)?

And I know there is talk of edits (for violent scenes perhaps?), but I'm just delighted we are finally getting the full version of "Postpartum" this time (which here in the UK and Ireland was trimmed by 20 minutes for the dvds!).

Yes, the BluRay is definitely Region-free. I just played a disc on the Region B and C settings of my player after not being able to play another of my only Region A discs.

The picture quality is fine. Grainy in part but nicer than the DVD’s for sure.
I have only tested this out (not actually watching the show yet) but as far as testing out the last disc of season 5 it is fine. Postpartum runs for 69 minutes and 53 seconds. The sound is very nice and crisp.

The picture quality is about the same as Friday Night Lights imo.

But it's funny, they ARE bothers when a feature film's aspect ratio is changed, so again, it's hypocritical and ridiculous why TV should be reformatted to "fill your screen" but films should maintain their integrity of the way they were shot and composed.

Again, there's no argument that puts me in the wrong, because I see it over and over. One change is no different than any other changes. Bottom line, it should be presented AS SHOT AND AIRED, so that means full episodes AND original aspect ratio. If you don't agree then you don't get to pick and choose what's "important" when it comes to the integrity fo an episode. Aspect ratio is just as valuable as content, because it all serves an artistic purpose.

One glaring instance is when Kavanaugh is trying to seduce Corrine and has her against the door. In his shot, you clearly see Casssidy standing in the background but in the scene, it doesn't cut to reveal her there for another 30-40 seconds. It's just funny to see half a person (cut off by the edge of frame) just standing there not reacting who we weren't supposed to see yet. There's lots of little instances like that throughout.

And yes, boxy was beer, because it created tension (and not to mention, that was the way the shot was composed for broadcast, which would 100% always be maintained, whether it be film or TV).

Thanks for telling us how ALL people feel about that issue Bates. You sure know that ALL people feel the same way about cut scenes vs aspect ratio regardless of film or tv. Most movies in my country are shown in 16:9 instead of its original aspect ratio. It is quite possible more people would complain about the TV company showing a censored version of e.g. Kingsman than if the black bars are gone.

This could have been a problem if she is not "into" the scene, meaning her attention is somewhere else. She could have been laughing at something happening behind the camera, looking randomly at things etc. She could also be mentally preparing for her appearance and react to Kavanaugh. If it is the latter I have no issues seeing her in the background.

Thanks so much for the reply. I realise it's an inherently grainy show anyways, just thought I'd ask, as picture and sound upgrade don't seem to get a lot of discussion in the thread.

And the postpartum edit was particularly annoying when I saw the series on tv first. I didn't realise there had been any edits till these new scenes appeared briefly in the season 6 premier's "previously on" recap!!!

You’re welcome! I don’t even recall how long Postpartum was on my Australian DVD, so it’s pleasing to hear we have an uncut version here and I might be watching a longer episode.

Sony did a good job with the look and sound of the show. And Mill Creek did a very good job with the way the set is packaged. The edits are disappointing but hopefully that gets resolved. If we just get an apology and nothing more, I will still be happy with what we’ve got.

I just started watching the new Lethal Weapon series (binged watched Season 1 in about 3 days), and I love it, which reminds me on how the Shield also used L.A. as a character in the series as well. I have the DVD set, but never got around to watching S6 & 7. Because I heard this project was in the works. So i need to pick this up once I can fit it into my budget.

I just finished the first disc of season 1. I must say that the picture quality is very nice. I said the other day that The Shield BluRay looks similar to Friday Night Lights (off the back of playing a disc for a minute) but after an extended viewing I would say The Shield looks nicer IMO. The sound is nice too. Heaps of special features. Region-free.

The first few episodes have reminded me how great this series was. Vic Mackey is a badass.

Well, i actually bought it right after i posted this. Bought it for $100...free shipping, no taxes. Saved about $20 from Amazon's price. Should get it by early next week. I'm gonna try to finish up Lethal Weapon S2 by then. Already thru Disc 1 of 4.

Michael Chicklis should come on as a guess star , PD is getting very predicable and needs some oomph .

Never seen a single episode of this, but based on the love it gets, I picked it up in the 120 sale. Complete box sets are gold to me.
