I’ve never had a JP BD go bad on me, but I seem to recall that some people have had issues with playing this disc. I know it worked when I got it.
FWIW I tried playing my own copy of the FB2012 BD on my BD drive. MPC-HC wouldn't play it at all, and VideoLan would play only the viewer warning blurb. HandBrake is still able to access all the tracks, so I'm using it to back them up (I forgot there were things (commercials, game cutscenes) besides FB2012 on the disc)

Edit: I can still play the individual .m2ts files using MPC-HC and VideoLan.

Thanks for checking. It's strange that the disc won't play on a standalone player. I'm pretty sure I was able to play it on my PS3 when I first got it.

I did the $75 for premium and voted 10 in the poll, so I did my part.

Same. On both counts

Sounds promising re the English dub as well. It's naff, but nostalgic so I'd rather have it than not!

The English dub is a non factor for me really, but if they can get it more power to them for those who want it

It should be fully funded today. Would imagine they hit the stretch goal as well.

Funded

Next stop, Mikimoto art

If a 4K/UHD is possible for Macross II then AL really should be looking into something similar for Macross Plus. Hopefully they've been watching this.

4K for Macross Plus would be amazing against that soundtrack. Hopefully they are indeed watching.

Agree with the above, let's hope that anyone already involved, or with future potential to be involved, in licensing any Macross productions is taking note.

The full funding of a Kickstarter in less than four hours for what's traditionally regarded as one of the "lesser" Macross entries should serve as a helpful reminder that, despite this franchise having been effectively been in legal limbo for over 20 years, it still has a notable measure of popularity.

Hopefully, as 2024, and the third anniversary of the Big West/Studio Nue/Harmony Gold announcement, approaches, we may start hearing news regarding the other series soon.

As a reminder, the 4K UHD isn’t a done deal until 1000 people fill out this survey and are willing to pay $30 more.

Ditto. I wont be sad if Bob doesnt do 4K, but I'm totally onboard with it if it does happen.

I also asked whatever happened to the other kickstarter that was being worked on "soon". We'll see if he says anything about that one.

Discoteck has spoiled me. I may not listen to the old dubs, but having them is always invaluable to me.

I saw someone who asked that in the Kickstarter comments; I guess that was you? Robert replied that they aim to announce it in the next few months, with the Kickstarter starting next summer. Hopefully that's the case, and it isn't pushed back any further.

When shittyroll took over RS I think that RS's intention to release Frontier and Delta got shitcanned in the process so the only way the US will ever see either is a kickstarter or maybe Gkids might license one or both but I'm not gonna hold my breath waiting.

Nozomi Entertainment still exists and continues to produce titles to this day. For all intents and purposes, they should be able to finish releasing the titles that they have already licensed.

What will happen to Nozomi Entertainment titles?

Nozomi Entertainment will continue producing licensed titles, and Nozomi products are now available on the Crunchyroll Store.

I don't think the slowness of the Frontier/Delta/7 releases from Nozomi is necessarily related to the Crunchyroll buyout stuff - things have seemed similarly quiet with Anime Limited's plans for Macross Plus, and like sure we have a kickstarter now for Macross 2 but the estimated date for the disc is still a year out.

I figure it's more likely that these things just take time, tbh.
