Is the individual release confirmed anywhere as being 3 discs? I just assumed it would be the same as the Nolan Collection Dunkirk (3 discs, right?) but then I see Amazon specs say 2 discs...
Don't want to get any nasty surprises if I go down the individual releases route for all the Nolan 4K's. |

https://www.vudu.com/movies/#!content/851343/Dunkirk If the 4K Blu-ray doesn't come with Dolby Vision, then it doesn't really fits with Nolans comment he prefers Blu-ray over streaming. |

That page you linked says UHD $19.99 available on 12/12. All of their releases feature Dolby Vision, so no reason to expect that it won't - it would be the first title they offer in UHD without dolby vision if that's the case. |

But why favor Dolby Vision for a stream and give "only" HDR10 for physical media then? Problems, no happy with the results, money. Who knows. |

Disney are still opting for HDR10 on disc and DV on streaming and it's something Warners have been doing since almost the start of this UHD adventure. Yes, we've inexplicably had Westworld released in DV on disc (with precisely zero fanfare about it) from Warners but no sign of a DV movie on disc from them as of yet. It'd be great if the Nolan flicks were at the vanguard of that but if they're not then I wouldn't take it as a sign of the apocalypse or anything.

Who knows. It would be great if we could start seeing more Dolby Vision content on physical media. |

I am assuming it has Dolby Vision for a couple of reasons: 1) I've seen other pre order titles within incomplete specs on the pre order screen, such as UHD titles not saying they have Atmos or DV before, to have them once they are officially moved into the UHD section upon release. 2) This would be the first Vudu UHD title to not have Dolby Vision since Vudu UHD launched a couple of years ago, regardless of what is or is not on the disc versions. 3) Warner has been supporting Dolby Vision on Vudu UHD since the beginning, having titles available in DV that aren't even on disc with HDR-10 yet. Vudu UHD implies Dolby Vision at the very least. I would be shocked if it didn't have Dolby Vision. |

You'd be surprised how favorably the DV streams on Vudu compare to the HDR 10 discs. On 65 inch OLED the bitrate differences are imperceptible from a normal viewing distance, on 75 inch Vizio they negligible at best. The DV difference is massive on those units. Now on my 940E (which I am exchanging for a 79D on monday), there isn't DV yet, however I've seen plenty of content that will benefit from DV... Punisher had tons of scenes with highlights that blew out even when tone mapped to display 1400 nits... Spider Man homecoming definitely had some very high nit highlights that blew out at that range too, so DV will definitely help even the light cannon LCDs, obviously not to the same degree as on the lower nit units but I think some people will be surprised when they see screenshots side by side in the difference DV will make even on the Z9D/940E/930E. From my experience of HDR10/DV/4K on a wide range of televsions, on a 65 inch unit, the reduction of clipped/blown out highlights are more perceptible and noticeable than an increase in bitrate for marginally sharper detail at normal viewing distances. Others may disagree, but I know that's what I prefer any day of the week. Oddly enough DV on disc isn't even a clear winner either, for the time being at least, with particular issues that don't seem to be present on their streaming counterparts. |
