The back of the cover states no original audio but just a DTS Master 2.0 with the Atmos?

Hoping Disney pull their finger out for international fans I don’t want to be waiting any longer than December after it’s been nearly 9 months.

No. The disc detects if there’s a 3D display in the chain or not, if not then it locks it out and can’t be played.

Pretty sure you can just set the bluray player to play 3D content in 2D by default. Depends on the player, obviously, but Panasonic can do it.

I tried when I owned the 3d copy, it didn’t work.

That’s a shame. I know that’s not how it’s intended to be watched, but I’ve seen it so many times. It would be interesting to watch it in a new way.

My old Epson projector used to allow me to just turn off 3D or turn on a fake processing 3D on a 2D image. It was great for MCU IMAX movies. Pop in the 3D disc and turn off the 3D and watch it 2D IMAX.

The Sony XM800 detects if the video source is 3D capable and forces you to shut it off if it's not.

If the transfer of a film turns out great, that is the most important thing. I can't get that worked up over an extra feature missing that you'll probably only watch once.

Any Actual news on it is actually the original advertised 4 disk (X2 UHD X2 Blu) rather than the now advertised x1 uhd and x1 Blu?

Nope. Doesn’t work, not even on a Pannysonic. The disc is authored to not permit user-selectable 2D playback. The only workaround is if you actually have a 3D TV, as once the disc detects there’s a 3D display in the chain then it’ll play and then I can go into the settings menus on my OPPO and turn the 3D off on the fly, thus showing the 2D left eye stream. But the disc itself will not boot in a 2D-only display environment, you get this:

I can't believe that one of the new extras in this release is a gallery of fan art. Let me be clear that I'm always grateful when we get new stuff, but come on, did James Cameron really need to use the disc of this Oscar-winning movie to showcase what he found on DeviantArt?

Well, despite that quote he also didn't apply that philosophy to Titanic. I kinda wonder why James Cameron is not compared to George Lucas that much.

+1. Doesn't work on my Panny player.

Another workaround is rip the disc and use external media player like Zidoo which I am sure will bore you to death

I know, but I’m too lazy to rip and remux nowadays so I’ll leave those recommendations to others, I’m talking about what can be done with a conventional player.

I’m starting to realise the “it’s been 84 years.” Is so true, I’ve been waiting for Disney to announce the UK edition of Titanic for months and Paramount come out with the Canada/us version first with no sign of International territories having it by December.

Is this getting a UK release as the BD was previously handled by Fox?

EVERYONE I ask knows nothing. Outlets are like “yay titanic is out in 4K ULTRA HD” yet fail to mention it’s only in the US/Canada edition.

Surely if Titanic wasn’t coming on physical disc, they wouldn’t have been given the right to premiere it in the UK for the anniversary.

Down to Disney and their box tickers.

Disney already losing sales as a vast majority would import (Air Force One / Face/Off / Dragonslayer / Starship Troopers etc. to name a few).

Never tried to "force" one of these 3D discs on a 2D display before, so I just assumed a 3D capable player would be able to bypass this lock, but I guess not.

Locking a 3D disc this way feels just as exploitative as region locking UHDs. Granted, there are very few 3D discs that offer any benefits over the existing 2D (Top Gun was another one, prior to Paramount doing the 4K), but I don't understand why you wouldn't let someone watch it in 2D when the files are already there.
