Regardless they cannot use them as a surprise because they let it be known. Otherwise they’d still be beating around the bush.

My original point got lost in the whole official announcement thing. What I mean is we have already seen the family and there have been photos of Paul Rudd in the area and we know these people are in the film and have been seen filming...we will never get a peep of the original cast filming...no set photos...no “official” announcement... and they will be revealed just in trailer or in the film itself. That’s the “surprise”.

And they are most definitely beating around the bush. The franchise’s number 1 cheerleader is Aykroyd. If he was in it, which we are assuming he is, he wouldn’t be shutting up about it. Only the lovely ladies have gone on record with their involvement.

Sorry if I came off rude in my previous post. I just meant they’ve been undeniably confirmed.

I don’t think they’re really beating around the bush though. Not about being in it. Of course they can’t give details.

I don’t think Weaver’s and Potts’ comments or that Instagram post would be allowed if they were really meant to be a sort of mystery.

Gonna be a fun movie. The crew had a meal break after 9pm, and there was Ecto 1 sitting in the street. One guy was sitting there having a meal. It was my 40th birthday on the weekend so I told him it was the icing on the cake. Asked if I could have a quick walk around Ecto, and he allowed me too. Couldn't take photos. Couldn't touch it, but was about 3 feet from it.

Looked great! They wrapped up in Fort Macleod late this morning and they're back in either Crossfield, Beiseker, or somewhere here in downtown.

Happy Birthday to you; that must have been an amazing experience. Hoping the use of pyrotechnics means they will lean heavily towards physical effects.

Headed out to Drumheller today to take in the Drumheller Dinosaur Comic Expo. Pitstopped in Beiseker to see the diner set. Looks like they are still going to be shooting there. American bunting was still up on the building across from it. Had a nice afternoon at the Expo, Met Eugene Brave Rock who played Chief in Wonder Woman. He's one of our local actors. Super nice guy. The Ghostbusters film trucks were parked right next to the arena where the expo was. Earlier in the day they parked Ecto 1 right in the arena parking lot, but I couldn't get there in time. They were already filming with it when I got there. Spent the afternoon in the Tyrrell museum checking out dinosaurs. Stopped in Crossfield on the way home, was hoping to get a pic of the Stay Puft Marshmallows mural but its covered in a big blue tarp. There is a pic on Twitter from Aug 7. If you want to see pics of Ecto from earlier today, check out the Calgary Ghostbusters Facebook page.

Gonna head out to Drumheller next weekend as I want to spend a whole day at the Tyrrell. Not sure if they will still be filming there.

Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 2020, sequel to father Ivan Reitman’s original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, will hand the mantle to a new generation and the “actual descendants” of the original Ghostbusters, reveals producer Dan Aykroyd.

“Well, we really need to hand it to a new generation, and we didn’t do that,” Aykroyd told ET Canada of Paul Feig’s female-led reboot. “And although the girls’ movie kept the concept and the ideas alive — it was really good, they were great in it — it wasn’t like giving it to the new generation, the actual descendants of the original Ghostbusters. So we’re going to link to the DNA, old and new there.”

Ivan Reitman, also involved as producer, says his son’s sequel will “expand” the original iteration of the franchise with a return to the continuity established in 1984’s Ghostbusters.

“I think it’s a wonderful story that people continue to be interested in, 35 years after we came out with the first one,” Reitman said. “And I think we’re trying to expand it a little bit, and I think Jason’s movie does that.”

Unlike the reboot — led by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as the new foursome of Ghostbusters — this third entry in the franchise is about a family.

“We don’t have four new men. No, this is a story about a family,” Reitman said, adding, “I don’t think gender is going to be an issue in this movie at all.”

It all sounds really good.

I know it’s just speculation but having another ghostbusting company is something I love. I’ve always wanted there to be other branches but a competitor is just as cool. The leaked script from years ago was about a rival or someone taking over the business. I forgot exactly which.

Still I doubt that’s what it’s about. It could be part of it but I feel like we would have seen something implying another company like a logo or service vehicle.

I hope he’s right about the car. Giving it weapons (and finally explaining the roof stuff) would be awesome. I too thought it was just filming mods.

It’s great they’re “passing the torch” to a new generation but that totally could have been done in the 2016 movie. It would have made it much better. Don’t see why Feig wanted to ignore the continuity.

They keep saying this is more a continuation of the first movie though. Everything sounds like Gozer is the villain again. Which is fine I just hope there’s a good reason why they retired or whatever after GB2.
