I think their English is fine. They have nothing on my struggles.

A high functioning autistic brain can mean you are brilliant with technology or, like me. You have to think really hard on it, because your brain needs a literal/physical visual, auditory point of reference/association. Or the words mean absolutely nothing.

Then combine that with a health dose of dyslexia.

Oh, so you are just ignoring what people are saying then and are holding studios to your own arbitrary standards rather than the reality of the situation. Got it.

Looking forward to seeing IB on 4k disc. For those looking for a deal, Gruv has a $19.99 price, plus their coupon for 20% off.

What? I have a 4K UHD player that is backwards compatible with Blu-Rays and DVD's. Most players are like that, from what I know, especially since mine is not high-end.

I am sorry if you misintererpreted me. I obviously didn't mean whether it was better than the DVD, but whether it was worth it to buy it over the 1080p version, and if it was grain scrubbed.

There's a surprise.

Fair enough, I relent. It's clear I upset some gentlemen with my opinions, enough to be xenophobic just because I am not Shakespeare.

Perhaps it's because I am a new user, and maybe this topic has been debated a lot by older users, which I was not around to witness.

It's just that for me, 4K Blu-Ray is about bringing the movie as close to the cinematic experience as possible. The 4K resolution brings the image a little more resemblance to what you would have gotten in a theater. The resolution of a theatrical print is 6K, I think. 4K is not quite there, but close. Obviously, there is perhaps some detail lost in those couple million fewer pixels, but it's not too visible. I just believe that 2K is kind of a shame, given the vast resolution of 35mm film. It seems like cheaping out.

I relent and I apologize if I upset folks.

P.S. Blade Runner 2049 has average HDR, but is widely considered a reference quality disc.

The theatrical presentation of IB was 2K SDR. Therefore the 4K disc being a 2K upscale (+HDR) improves upon the theatrical experience.

I can't wait to get my copy on Tuesday and pop it in.

You've been asking how X titles compared to DVD, hence my statement. So you seemed to be using DVD as your reference point. I also got the impression prior to buying a 4k player, you were using DVD (and not Blu ray).

It's not xenophobic to assume someone who has actively apologized for their English, might not be properly understanding these highly technical topics being explained in... English.

6K is for a 35mm negative, not a print. A theatrical print barely reaches 2k in terms of measurable fidelity.

While I can support this statement on a certain level, I’ll express my thoughts. The disc market is ever shrinking, so there is less money to be made by the studios. I will state that there is not one (zero, zilch, nada) person on this site that buys all of the 4k releases and probably none that pays full price for every disc they do purchase. (I have well over 300 4ks and have only paid day one prices on 3 or 4). There are those who sell their extra blu-rays, the 4Ks they no longer want, and the digital codes. (not that there is anything wrong with that ). So all these choices that we make for our own benefit, reduces the profit that the studios make on each disc title. So IMO, they are just doing what we all do ourselves, making decisions that justify their bottom line.

(And some don't give a shit about HDR regardless.) But by "people" I don't even mean normal punters, you all have betterer things to be doing than comparing discs for hours on end, but that's where the responsibility of being a "pro reviewer" comes into play. They should do the work so punters don't have to, but instead we have the blind leading the blind in the case of people like FaH, Movie Collector, Spare Change etc etc etc.
Yep, I still don’t have 4K equipment and trust the reviews on this site that I believe Know Their Stuff. As for my title of this post, I have seen a couple of my favorite 1080P blu-ray discs on a regular HD LCD display and they don’t WOW me like they did on my Sony Triton and LD player.

I am confident that the vast majority of my 4K HDR discs will surpass my lofty expectations.

And you bring up another issue Mr Salty. Adoption. Yes nobody expects UHD Blu-ray to have any mainstream uptick. But after 5 year's in this day and age, and the only way still to actually be able to watch the format properly is with premium end gear. Is really even asking a lot of the film enthusiast niche.
