Extra dialogue between Mouth and Stef on the plank was another scene that I remember on the TV cut that is not available in the deleted scenes. ![]() |

I think it works great. It's a cute way of how kids tend to exaggerate. Even funnier is how many years later I found out it really happened, haha!

I've never minded that line at all, I think of him as a very excited kid letting his imagination run wild at that moment.

that's one of the most famous lines in the entire movie and sent imaginations running wild until the video game came out* (I think maybe for Christmas that year) and then they ran even more wild! Ah man people would go on and on about the MYTHICAL OCTOPUS back in the day! It was such a thing! You may as well delete the entire movie if you delete that one line!) *(jump to 6:42 if you browser isn't letting the start at time thing work properly) Last edited by WBMakeVMarsMovieNOW; 11-21-2020 at 07:58 PM. |

Finally watched this. Did they had to make it that the main characters were yelling every five or so seconds? Almost couldn’t make it through because the noise was unbearable

WE saw this in the theater and thought it was cute. When it was finally released on DVD I picked up a copy and couldn't stand it. All Chunk did was scream. Turned it off after 30 minutes.

Finally had the chance to watch my UHD copy of The Goonies tonight.
I must say, it certainly doesn't look like a typical 80s film anymore at all, but I have to admit that they did a marvellous job at cleaning it up, whilst maintaining as much detail and a fine grain structure as possible, without any of the nasty side effects of DNR. It definitely makes for a modern viewing experiene, and except for the final moments, when the ship drifts away, it could pass for a present day movie set in the 80s. Detail isn't always very strong, but not frustratingly wanting at any moment either. It's pretty good, and in many cases fabulous, especially close-up shots. I didn't detect any nasty frozen grain, or smeary shots. There is a very light and faint film of grain that never ever distracts. Even dark scenes never become noisy. That Films at Home guy said it was a very dark film, and he could hardly make out anything. I'd say get your system calibrated, because it looked excellent on my set. I never had any problems, and they even brightened up some shots, such as a reaction shot by the inventor kid from Temple of Doom down in the caves. This film has never before looked so beautiful. The sun rays shining through the trees when they are riding their bikes stood out to me, as well as the various vibrant colours. While it is sad that the natural grain has been done away with, at least they did the best possible job with it, so I do give them kudos for that. I'd watch The Phantom Menace like this. Black levels are perfectly appropriate, and contrast is quite ideal. The shot with the cave's wall collapsing was the brightest to me. I like fine grain in movies, and this was an extremely well done job, so I'll rate the picture quality a 4.25/5 Audio quality is fine too, although some of the dialogue is a tad muffled. The bat sequence is the standout moment. 4/5 The movie is lots of fun. The 80s really were the pinnacle of children adventure films, weren't they? Film: 4/5 Compare this to Star Wars TPM, or some of the shots in TLOTR trilogy, and it could have been far worse, but they really did a mighty fine job here IMHO. |

Proceed reading with caution, as it may ruin it for some of you!
Btw., it never ceases to amaze me how they spend million of $ on a movie, yet can't be bothered to get the most basic things right. When Andy says she is not sure if it's a Bb or an A#, it doesn't make any difference on an instrument with keys, such as a piano or organ, since it's divided into half tone steps, so the whole thing is utterly irrelevant. Also, if she can't even tell the difference between a note with a flat (b) symbol and a sharp (#), then she obviously doesn't have a clue about reading music in the first place, and would not have made it to that point to begin with. Sorry, if I am ruining it for anyone. It's just like those lazy actors that pretend to be playing an instrument when it's complete hogwash. That's why I really appreciate it when actors such as Ralph Macchio actually put effort into it, and consider it a vital part of their role (Crossroads). |

Just got mine from Amazon and I don't know if it has the audio drop-out issue as I couldn't even get it to load. Had bad UHD's in the past but this was certainly the worst. Xbox just threw an error trying to load and my two different LG UHD drives both failed to be able to read anything on it. (yes I tried cleaning it thoroughly). Saved me time looking for errors I suppose.

Tech issue I'm hoping someone can advise or help with!
I'm watching this right now on Oppo 203 with LG65C7 and the bottom bar flickers in some scenes where lighting changes, mostly in the cave. It's really distracting and isn't on the disc, doesn't repeat the same when replayed. I had a similar issue watching home alone last week, also HDR. The only time this happened before was the UHD of shadow in DV. I set HDR to forced for the remainder of shadow and it played fine, but not sure what to do when the problem happens in HDR. Tried changing the target nits to a higher number, nothing. All other HDR settings on the oppo are auto. Is this an LG problem or Oppo problem? Also it's definitely not the HDMI. For reference receiver is Denon AVR2400H, set to 4k passthrough. Thanks! |

(The nits setting on the OPPO doesn't do a thing unless you're watching stuff in SDR conversion, it's not meant for actual HDR viewing.) |
