FYI those having problems with Iron Man - The first disc off the presses were flawed, recalled and replaced. I hope none of you have one of those flawed copies.

Default Iron Man Issue

As I said, it is up to the latest update, I have tried several different Ironman Blu Ray discs to the same result, the screen goes blank, the display on the BD Player shows 00:00 on the counter and shows a disc in but no menu, basically just freezes. Any other thoughts? Is there a way to revert it to the programming it had out of the box since it played Ironman then, it stopped when it updated.

Thanks

Alright, I did some more digging and found a thread that suggested disconnecting my internet connection.....it worked....now I am able to play Ironman. Issue with the BD Live and a huge download it tries to get when it starts up? I do enjoy the quality of the Blu Ray picture and sound but this is a pain in the rear!

I think I need to upgrade my telly which is a rear projection flat screen - about 5 years old now, although we are running it through "componant" with an optical cable to the amplifier. Once we have a movie in the machine and have pushed the fast forward button for 5 seconds or more and it resets itself it behaves quite fine. I also need to unlock this beauty as I have movies from all different regions so can you help me with that? I can live with resetting the machine as I really only use it on the weekends!
You shouldnt have to constantly reset it. I am guessing that its not your tv either. I would go through the player menu and make sure everything is set up right. Im running mine HDMI, but running it component shouldnt make it need to be reset everytime. Anyone else...feel free to jump in.

Ive never had mine connected to the internet, but that would be a pain. Since it is a BD-live disc, I dont get why it wouldnt play with a internet connection???

Because it is has BD-Live enabled and the player is looking for that. Just like if you have cable connected to your tv and have your tv option set to antenna. Why would you expect the cable programming to come thru - not gonna work.

Ok but shouldnt it still play the movie after its went through the BD-live deal without having to disable it?

I understand it "hangs" because the files size of the BD Live info it is trying to get is huge...several gigs....I left it alone for an hour yesterday and still nothing. I had it hard lined into my router and have a pretty fast DSL connection so if that is the case if must be a huge amount of data it is getting. I disabled the BD Live though the player menu and now all is right with the playback....I have never used BD Live so I guess ignorance is bliss in that I don't know what I am missing!

Cheers

You're not missing much. I've view a couple bd live discs and it didn't add to the movie. I got to watch trailers of upcoming movies and "special" feature stuff. But on Dark Knight, the WB store wasn't even working along w/ other features.
Maybe it'll get better, but not worth it right now. You could probably just view the streaming video on the net anyway.

I really don't care about BONUSVIEW or BD-LIVE. Both are really annoyances and worthless. I want to watch the movie, not little PIP bonus clips. I'll watch bonus features after watching the movie.

I know what you mean about the Bonus View....took me a bit to figure out how to get rid of the on screen message, I was ready to take back the player at one point!

If you have firmware 2.0, to disable the bonus view go to the players menu then go to display and turn it to OFF. BTW, firmware version 2.1 got rid of the bonus view icon while the display is still set to on.

With no disc in your player select menu and then settings....select system setup and then turn off the "screen messages".....simple thing that took a call to Samsung for me....hope that helps.

Cheers,

The 1500 is not Profile 2.0 and BD-Live straight out of the box. It has to have the firmware upgraded by connecting it to the your internet ethernet cable or by downloading to CD or USB from this website:

Was wondering if anyone else has had this trouble:
We have the BD1500 connected thru an Onkyo receiver with HDMI - We have a tv that is 1080p -
We just put on the latest firmware upgrade a few days ago and since the upgrade, have had troubles with the BluRay player disconnecting from the receiver. Still is going to the TV (we can see the movie playing, but hear no sound, readout on the Onkyo said "no signal", player shows playing). Nothing seems to reset it other than either ejecting the disc and reloading it, or powering off then back on. This seems to happen when we pause the disc. Sometimes after a long pause, sometimes only a short pause.
---
Would appreciate any feedback on what it might be . . . .
Thanks.
