USA Terminator 2 malfunction

This regards the "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" Skynet Edition for Region A playback. When loading the menu, the disc (aka Skynet) wants to find your geographical location on a red map. Recently, it has started to show the map but not give a location, which doesn't allow me to access the disc's main menu, pop-up menu, or the movie itself. Does anyone know what to do or is anyone familiar with this issue? Please help.

If your player is connected to the internet, disconnect it. I think this is what I read was suggested in past threads in order to get the disc to load.

The same problem for so many people over and over.
Why do they do this difficult for us??

Please release a remastered, and easily accessible Bluray for this terrific movie!

I finally got around to checking this out.

Could it be better? Probably. The pic is a bit soft but I blame most of that on the original film stock. It might be better with a newer scan but we won't know until they do one.

Is it really good? YES. I found the picture blows away the Extreme DVD easily. The DTS Master Sound alone is worth the less than $10 this goes for now.

This Blu-ray release has easily the worst menu I have ever encountered, why couldn't they just make a simple menu like past releases?

To give you another reason to buy it again when they release another version.

I believe the Japanese Premium Edition is out of print. I got the UK Optimum release when it was 5 GBP and am happy with it. It only has the director's cut but the picture quality is good and it has lossless audio. It is still available at Amazon.co.uk for about 20 GBP which is probably more than I would pay since it is a barebones release.

+1 on that. I picked up the UK optimum for about 6 quid I think - no DNR on this one so it looks better than the skynet. Got the skynet one as well though for the extras.

The skynet menu is just horrible mind!

The Japanese Premium has a "2.0" reissue. I have it in hand; haven't watched it yet to verify PQ or audio specs, but it does come with both versions of the film, so I think it's a repackage of the original (with possibly new audio options):

I've bought this movie on the 3 previous formats and have been putting off buying a Blu-ray version due to overseas pricing and lack of the directors cut.

This movie needs to come out completely remastered, and only if James Cameron is up to it, in 3d as well.

We really don't need a 3D conversion of T2 unless they include Battle Across Time as a bonus.

Amen. Unplugging ethernet and what not and disconnecting internet to make it work.

What a work. I'm doing this now and it's pissing me off.

Strange. I never disconnect the net and its fine on mine - loads fast too, under a minute. The menu is a mess though - too many confusing options, cant be bothered with it. Mind you, if I'm going to watch the film Ill watch the barebones Optimum anyway.

I was wondering if we could expect a 25th anniversary remastered edition in 2016.
This is one of my favourite films, and still I haven't bought it because I think there is room for improvement, as it shows with the first film!

It all depends on Cameron. The man has a lot on his plate right now such as three Avatar sequels, Battle Angel, and being consulted for Terminator: Genesis. On top of all that he hasn't even gotten to True Lies or The Abyss on BD yet.

What version is best for this is the skynet edition or the regular edition or should i just get the anthology set. I only really cared about the first 2 films not 3 or salvation, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Best editions... Terminator (Remastered Edition) and Terminator 2 Japanese Premium Edition Ver. 2.

If you have a smaller HDTV and are not as picky about audio, the UK standard release of Terminator 2 uses the same scan as the Japanese edition but with much lower bit-rates and not the same audio.

If you just want the best domestic editions, the Skynet Edition is better than the standalone edition released earlier.

If you don't care about the third and fourth films (and by the way, neither do I, I only consider the first two true canon) then the Anthology set isn't really the way to go. The first disc isn't the restored version and you get two films you probably don't even want. But it's a decent price.
