I've had to return 3 things over the years, but I've ordered far more than that. One of them was about 10yrs ago (the blu-ray of Cocktail), it had a giant slash through the front cover. The other two were more recently. The Saved by the Bell DVD set came with the outer box all smashed, a couple of the inside plastic cases broken and discs out of their case but apparently this problem wasn't amazon specific, and they sent me a new one no questions asked. It showed up in better shape than the first, still not perfect, and I had to return the original. A couple weeks ago I ordered a book that came in a bubble envelope and it was basically bent in half, looked like a disaster and like someone played soccer with it in a dusty warehouse. They sent me a replacement but never sent a return shipping label like they had before. Wasn't double charged? Maybe because it was only $10-15 they didn't bother.

No doubt - I’m not blaming anyone, there are more points of failure in shipping - not just amz warehouses. There are a few videos around about amz management of inventory - it’s a crazy complicated company!

Amazon's prices on Criterion vary GREATLY. Some remain the same for a year or more, others change almost daily.

Feb~April of this year Amazon had majority of the Criterion on awesome sale; many down in the $20 range.

Now the price was very high in early August but I'm seeing it coming down slowly. I check the prices daily.

If you want something specific, put it on your wish list and just watch for it.

Believe it or not, pre-order price for Ingmar Bergman collection was C$215 for a short time. The price jumped to over C$300 after release and it's been C$420 for a while. While the price is still fair, given the content, I would not stomach paying that much when it was C$215 at one time.

You just have to be patient and wait for it, like fishing, and pull the trigger when the price dips.

I've noticed over the last few months that there are at least 1 or 2 criterions that are below $30 on .ca. (like currently Night Porter, Here Comes Mr Jordan and Insomnia are all < $30.) Which is good for people like me who just enjoy discovering new titles, most of my criterion blind buys have been some of my favorite purchases

I wonder who they're price matching with those price fluctuations on Criterion. Seems odd that they would just bounce around like that.

FYI for those who are interested, The Stand on blu looks like it's on amazon now at $33. Not bad for what looks like will be a good release.

Still no listing for Criterion's The Circus (Chaplin) or the Showa Godzilla set. A bit annoying! Do criterion always take this long to appear on amazon.ca?

Yep, and sometimes they appear then disappear, or never appear at all.

Yeah not sure what's been going on with Criterion releases on Amazon these days. The listing at the very least would go up a few days after announcements in the past, but now its just a matter of waiting. This also seems to be the norm with other labels as well with Amazon Canada.

Its really bizarre as some studios get listings put up right away (notice Mill Creek, and Vinegar Syndrome, get put up right away, again at the least the listing) Others studios seem to take some time to get put up or their listing do go up but they take a very long time to get out of the unavailable stage (notice this recently with Shout, Arrow, some of the major studios MOD titles) or some don't even appear until after they are released (like Warner Archive, Sony MOD titles, Kino Lorber, recently as well seems to have something going on, as a lot of their titles are unavailable to order, and appear after they are released at a higher price point).

yes i've noticed this over the past 2 or 3 months any titles that are ones that amazon.ca are importing from the us that dont get official Canadian releases they are just listed them as unavailable now. these use to be ones ud pre order and they wouldn't show up for days or weeks after the release date. now amazon just seems to not let u pre order it at all and only opens the order put up after the item comes into stock. imo it just means they lose the sale as i go order it from wowhd instead

It looks like they are having a quiet Shout Factory sale. If you do a search, you will some more lower than their usual price including one of the best movies of all time, Mac and Me.

On that note, I received my Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden World steelbooks They look pretty good.

Holy moly at that price I bought 20.

Unfortunately all the Shout titles I'm interested in are not part of this sale..

Besides Lust for a Vampire they are not having a sale. They are price matching but Amazon did not price match everything that is on sale.

Amazon price matches?
Thought they were lazy about this and practically given up since there is not much competition.
Who are they price matching?

Sale or price matching. Whatever. The prices are still lower than normal on some titles.

Half of the time when Amazon has decent prices is when they are price matching. They are price matching Best Buy (literally the only other major retailer that has an online blu-ray presence in Canada lol).

Better of getting them from Amazon anyways as more people can take advantage of the deal, because as soon as Best Buy runs out of stock, Amazon will raise their prices.

If amazon is price matching BB it is rather hit and miss. There are a lot of Shout BD titles amazon is not price matching like:
Man From Planet X
The Bat People
Manster

BB's site is annoying cause it cannot list by label (for the most part).

Does anyone know the difference between these two John Wick 3 4K versions?

1. https://www.amazon.ca/John-Wick-Chap...=UTF8&qid=&sr=

2. https://www.amazon.ca/John-Wick-Chap...=UTF8&qid=&sr=

I ordered the first version listed when it was $29.99 and now it's gone up to $41. The only difference I see is that the more expensive one says "O-ring" in the item info. Amazon is of no help, they don't know why they have two listed!
