I think you're right. Richt is an outstanding recruiter, but a mediocre head coach. To win national championships you really need to be great at both. Well... unless you're Les Miles that is.

Texas A&M's defense looks lousy again. They've given up 4 TD's to Sam Houston St. If they pull this against Bama they're going to get crushed, and probably will.

That's because he's a horrible person and left his job or was fired before he got the chance. He also was not at a college football power at either place like Richt is now. Now you're the one comparing apples and oranges and still defending Richt. Since you don't like Petrino how about Gary Patterson?

It's crazy he can't find a QB in Texas. Colt McCoy was his last good QB.

I'm sorry, but UGA is a college football power because of Richt. Would they continue to keep top-level recruits with Petrino? I'm not sure.

Patterson is a good coach, but again, I'm not sure how he'd do recruiting top-level talent in the south. There's lots of good, historic programs down there with national champion coaches. He's also not having much success with his team constantly facing BCS opponents.

UGA is powerhouse because they are UGA not because of Richt. A monkey can do what he does.

Petrino got top level recruits at Louisville and Arkansas he sure as hell could recruit to Athens. Patterson has built a top level program at TCU. What do you think he could do when he is THE college program in a state like GA?

Seriously? They were pretty bad throughout the 90s. They've won their division 7 times.... 6 of those under Richt.

Top level recruits that only know how to play for him? Arkansas has been terrible....

Nick Saban will have had two weeks to prepare, and I don't think it will even be close. 'Bama is going to dominate them next week.

What championship is a team at Arkansas or Louisville supposed to win? And I do think Petrino is a better coach than Richt. Both are terrific recruiters, but Petrino is a better game day coach.

If he didn't have a national championship in the bank he probably would have been fired a good while ago. If Texas loses to BYU Brown's record will be 23-17 since the end of the Vince Young/Colt McCoy era. I'm not sure how Brown keeps his job with a 3+ year performance that bad. It doesn't help that Texas A&M is really eating into Texas recruiting these days.

Texas has given up 617 yards, 488 of which are rushing and there's still 14 min left. The BYU QB has 234 yards rushing for 3 TD's.

If K St and/or TCU beats them again he is gone for sure. I think he's done now. Throw in OU beating them by 50 again too.
