Even went back and removed every thanks they ever gave. Guess someone got upset.
Wow, that is odd.

He must have had at least a couple hundred posts in this thread. I think it would have taken quite a while to delete every post and remove every thanks.

That user name is no longer in the BD.com listing. The user must have had the mods delete their post and account.

I checked PenguinInfinity's account as well. He might have been told to go for good on order of the mod's. It's sad to see that happen now. I hope that he was not punished for the apparent posts that happened days ago as I didn't see that argument on this thread.

I do not recall any of his posts ever being so extreme as to warrant a permanent banishment or even a suspension. I by no means had read all of his posts, either, but those that I have read seemed acceptable by forum rules. Also, when you click on the link to the forum member's profile, as provided above by Groot in this instance, it will show that member's status. Currently, he shows as "new member," not "banned" or "suspended."

These actions look to be voluntary on the part of the forum member.

D-Theater has 5C copy protection (FireWire, IEEE 1394) but I’m sure it was broken. As such, TL probably exist on a torrent site somewhere. Never got into torrent and don’t know much about it.

Do you happen to own The Abyss extended cut on that format?
IIRC, it was never released on D-Theater .

What other unavailable gems do you have on D-VHS?
I am down to just five titles:
  • The Haunting (1999)
  • The Life Of David Gale*
  • The Ring*
  • The Time Machine
  • True Lies

*Amazon shows these as available on BD

Well I don't think any of us would report him so probably a mod?

That's exactly how many titles I still have on HD-DVD.

I have all but The Time Machine from your list on DVD.

A Mod would just suspend/ban someone if they thought there was a good reason. I have never heard of a mod here deleting every single post that person has ever made.

So like Vilya said, it looks like it is something Penguin did himself, or asked a mod to do for him.

I am like a nun on this one, never had none, don't won't none .

IMO, most folks would have been pretty happy with a BD made from the master used for the D-Theater version of True Lies. Fairly nice picture and very good sound track.

Another OT subject , back in the LaserDisc days I moded my Pioneer CLD-900 for Dolby Digital via RF. I used a Sony Dolby Digital decoder with an RF input. Have searched for that decoder model number but come up empty, per chance do you have an knowledge about said device?

EDIT: Found it in an old document of my equipment, it was a Sony EP9ES Dolby Digital Decoder. Someone has one on eBay and asking $500.00 .

I agree. In the user CP I did not see a way to delete all post made by a user nor a way to delete a user's own account. Its possible I could have overlooked something.

IMO, the user in question just got tired of being here or they wanted to start fresh with a new user ID.

If you mean the 2002 version, you should definitely get the DVD. I prefer the original 1960 version with Rod Taylor to be fair, but this is still a good film in my opinion, and as far as I know it hasn't yet received a Blu-ray release for some odd reason.

I was able to locate a respectable looking Song Of The South yesterday. While not perfect by any means, it is the best I have ever seen it. It appears to be sourced from a 35mm film print.

As for The Time Machine 2002 being on DVD only; there will be a blu-ray announcement shortly after I get around to buying the DVD version. It works out that way a lot.

I see Facebook are implementing a social ‘watch and comment together’ option on Facebook Watch. Expect Netflix and YouTube/ Red to follow suite. Great, so now even our films and tv are going to be swamped with emojis and oh so cool comments. My god, what is it with this obsession with having to share everything?
Basically it will allow several friends to watch the same synced video and post comments in real time. One person hosts and creates a playlist.

What a time to be alive!

Expect this to be implemented into every streaming service out there over the next year. Especially as competition ramps up. I have zero doubt Netflix will have already discussed this. Ditto Apple and Disney imo.

Keep telling yourselves backing digital delivery of movies was a good move guys.

In one of the first forums I moderated in one of the admins got the ass and deleted all of their posts and threw a monkey wrench in the forum when they did. What a childish thing to do. It is like when people say they are leaving this or that. Just leave and stop looking for validation

It’s a possibility, but highly unlikely. So don’t fall back into peering into your Palantír Steedeel

That type of thing is EXACTLY what I have been talking about. The enjoyment of watching a film passively ripped apart by this obsession with social media and interactive tv. Apparently many people have already been requesting the feature on Netflix and YouTube also. Basically the two biggest services out there. They are going to ruin films for everyone who loves them, mark my words. One won’t even be able to enjoy a film without things popping up on screen and some shitty interactive element.

I would say the opposite. It’s highly likely.

Me and online friends have live streamed a movie before and watched/commented together. Done it many, many times on low budget stuff. It’s very Mystery Science Theater-ish. I think I first did this back in the 90’s, did it at least a year or so ago. Shit can be hilarious and fun.

I like to enjoy my films rather than have them interrupted every few minutes. I could go to the cinema for that. It’s just not for me. The thing is, will I have that option? I hate all these interwctive and social brainwaves.

I like to have fun with people and mock bad/cheesy movies. Am I going to do this with every film? No. But some films are fun to group watch/bash.
