Shutter Island
3 out of 5. I was there in every scene however I found my mind wandering during the flick. I will not be adding this to my collection. I think most people will either like or dislike this film, no in-betweeners.

The Manchurian Candidate: 3 out of 5

I thought Meryl Streep absolutely owned this film. Want to see the original now as I hear its far superior.

I've grown to love the original; first viewing felt a little long and slow, but I love its photography and plot. I couldn't get into the remake at all.

Revanche (Criterion)

Film: 4 stars (out of 4)

PQ: 4.5 stars (out of 5)

AQ: 4.5 stars (out of 5)

What a great film with great but subtle acting, extremely effective directing, and great themes. This is a more complex film than it seems and it really creeps up on you. It seems slow at first but give it a chance. Will def add it to the collection.

glad you liked it. agree on all counts. i watched it twice in 3 nights (friends came over and insisted on watching it) and it held up very well to such a close repeated viewing. saw a TON the second time that i missed the first time...only 3 nights prior

will definitely be buying this too.

The Longshots - A pleasantly good family film. I didnt know Fred Durst directed movies? This was a nice feel good film based on a true story of the first female to play quarterback in pop warner. 3.5/5 Got Em!!

Last night, I watched "Body Heat" for the first time ever. It was a blind-buy, since it was cheap and I kept hearing that it was great. Honestly, I was underwhelmed; it's a very slow-moving story with little grab or impact for me. 3/5; prefer "Double Indemnity" instead.

Wow. I think its great noir and it sure didnt feel slow to me.

Did you at least enjoy the "steamy" scenes?

I might have to rewatch it when I'm more awake or in the mood or something. It might grow on me (most noir movies I like required some repeated viewings; I didn't care for "The Maltese Falcon" at first, but now I love it).

Yep, the "steamy" scenes were alright.

I'd still give the edge to "Basic Instinct" though.

... oh yeah, the plot, characters, and cinematography are not bad either.

Definitely a must-see. Maybe even moreso than that "Year One"...just maybe...
