I remember when I had 500, then 1000. Never thought I'd be where I'm at now. I LOVE IT!
Will hit 2500 by the end of this year.

I think I am about there at the 1,000 club. Although a significant portion of mine are Criterion Collection blus.

That is a massive and awesome collection. However, the one thing that totally bugs me is seeing so many unopened discs. I can understand it for steelbooks and limited editions, but so many of your regular releases are still sealed. With that many still sealed it looks almost like a retail store. For me, even if I'm not going to watch a movie right away I have to open it up. I think if I waited until I was ready to watch a movie to open it, I'd be too depressed with how far behind I am.

you're right to a certain extent, i don't open even regular amarays right away, but only when i'm ready to watch it. and, yes, i'm far behind with watching... (mostly because i spend most of my nights earning money).

however, not everything that looks sealed on the pictures is still sealed. i try to open stuff in a way that i keep the shrink wrap intact (box sets, slipboxes, slipcovers, digibooks,...) and where it's not possible i use protective sleeves.
for example, you see the halloween complete collection boxset? looks sealed on the picture? well, it's not i can take the amarays out on the other side, but the box is still covered with the original shrink wrap.
same with many of the plastic case editions. they look sealed, but are in fact in a protective sleeve (looks the same on the pics).

Just hit 1000 with Rio 2 (2014), and I'm not ceasing. I worship my collection and collecting. I relish going on the hunt to find the blus that escape me.

Passed 1600 earlier this month...B&N's 40% off sale has given me a nice head start on 1700!

This was #1600! I got it for just $5.28 using a $95 Rewards Zone Cert at BBY

And with this import, I hit 1,000. The UK region-free theatrical cut of "Dances With Wolves" is 1,001.

The only options I'm aware of is to buy another BD player, if you have room and spare cash, or risk your player and void any remaining warranty by purchasing some "add-on" adjustment. Please clue me in if there's another way (I've heard there's a trick where you stop and restart some players, but not mine). I have an Oppo - and I'm not willing to risk it or pay $60 for the "add-on" on eBay. The point is that regionalizing BDs is BS - they should all be region free. That's the only correct adjustment - imho, of course.

Sorry for offtopic, but i bought a toshiba player for €30 ($35) which can switch between regions after installing the australian firmware.

You can also get a BD PC drive, which are dirt cheap now. Then all you need is a program that gets past the encryption such as AnyDVD HD.

I'm creeping near 2000.

There is not much more room or shelf space for much more.
