I collect "vintage" CDs (manufactured mostly 1982-87), which is a bit different from blu-rays since anything I buy is 25+ years OOP. I buy duplicates in order to "trade up" on condition or to sell to a collector. I'd only keep more than one of the exact same CD (pressing, artwork, etc) if one was factory sealed.

As for blu-rays, I'm guessing that some who hold more than one are hoping to sell at a profit in the future or use to trade. Nothing wrong with that, but there is the inherent risk that forever reason the demand for a given blu-ray release will fall away. And, of course, there does come a point where hoarding kicks in.

As for ZD30, if I found 2 or 3 at BBY and I knew I could get them into collectors hands who missed out, then I'd buy all of them. The chance that an actual collector is going to randomly stumble into "the find" is slim, whereas it's easy to find them congregated in this forum.

And you can't say I am a scalper because I bought all 3 from eBay.
I paid 120 Euros for the 3D version with Helmet, it was 65 originally

Bought the other 2 for 35 or 40 Euros each, which is really cheap if you look at it now (all sealed). But even the 35 & 40 Euros were scalped/increased prices, they were originally 18 Euros.

Most beautiful steelbook in my collection. Such a 'powerful' manly design .

After all the chaos and bs regarding my instore pickup order for the last week....Last night I was able to get my copy. So BB, actually did right by me for once along with a gift card on top of everything cause of the screwup.

Wow, they did that for you? lucky, because I didn't even get a sorry from them for their screw up with my in store pick up of Total Recall Mind bending edition BD when it released last year.

Maybe you're joking, but typically, sale prices only last until the Saturday of release week. Prices go back up to MSRP for a couple of weeks after that.
