Yeah, there was much advertising and hype for the graphics. Instead, it is a big let down to me. As of now, I don't even look forward to playing any of the games. I didn't feel that way with PSVR or Quest 2. I'm sending mine back also. I'm not waiting or hoping that things will get better. That should have happened before they put them up for sale. Some seem to be satisfied with the new system but not me.

I bought No Mans Sky .. it’s on sale for $30 and from what I read, there’s a lot of things to do ( or places to go ) in this game. I’ve never played it.
After messing with it for a few sittings , I think this is the one for me and the PSVR 2 for awhile. I can go at my own pace and there’s enough for me to do. I’m not a big gamer. I suck at shooters. I dig exploring without having to worry about too much. As for all the blurry talk I’ve seen around ( not all here just but other places around the net too ) .. I feel some just have too high expectations for VR right now. When sitting in the cockpit of my ship, the whole control area looks about as real as I think VR can get right now. Kinda looks like when you go to a museum. That’s the best I can explain. Maybe the shadows aren’t right just yet, but the objects seem to be real. They just look like they are under a fluorescent light. The hologram control panel that illuminates off my wrist looks as clear as it would with something on my iPad. Crystal clear hi def. Amazing. I feel the closer an object the clearer it is. I fixed my ship and flew into outer space. It was one of those VR holy §£|t moments. So cool. Anyone else tried No mans sky yet. I’m not even sure what this games about. But I like it |

For PSVR1, I felt 199.99 was worth it, but I wouldn't have felt the same if I paid more. Then I would've regretted a higher price, based on the lack of true gem games for PSVR1 that I was hoping for. PSVR1 had something like 600+ games, but honestly, most of them were mini-type games with 2 hours of gameplay many times, so waiting for sale prices was critical. I bought something like 30 PSVR games or so. I used to download the demos and see if those were good. Those actually saved me from wasting more money on some clunkers. I hope PSVR2 is around by 2024 with 200 PSVR2 games and doing as well as PSVR1 did, but yeah, that price WALL as I'd call it, is a barrier to a lot more people having access or willingness to give such a high priced headset a try early on. Yes, I'm going to wait for some really big must have games that I want to play, like Astrobot Missions 2 (if it ever happens, but currently zero hope of it or news). What games did you try for PSVR2 so far? Or Demos? If you have Quest 2, then that definitely puts things in perspective. A guy reviewing PSVR2 on youtube said he has Quest 2, and feels this was more of the same as that, so there was no "wow" factor in comparison. Quest 2 having a wider range of PC VR games. He said he wasn't hyped at the moment, and to wait for more games down the road and a cheaper price. Quote:
In 2D mode, you can be a 3rd person view, which I wish you could also have in VR mode, but it's first person only in VR. |

I guess for me it's a case of had I already gotten the original PSVR1 or Quest 2 I may not feel the pull as much for PSVR2 anyway. I'm not sure if that's your situation but it's expensive, and for someone like myself and others it's definitely been an adventure to jump into & work out what exactly this stuff has to offer, and it's all new. Speak to me 5 years down the road as a jaded VR vet, then perhaps not as much, but holy shit GT7... I can't talk my experience with this one up enough.

As a point of reference, I've used PSVR 1, the original Oculus Rift, and I've used Oculus Quest 2 This experience blew all of those away Imo! PSVR 2 IS the definitive VR experience right now hands down and if you can't be impressed and excited by the technology, then VR just isnt for you I guess because youre not going to find anything better on the market right now. And its definitely the lightest, most comfortable VR headset Ive ever worn too. Last edited by Steelmaker; 02-26-2023 at 12:39 PM. |

As long as you understand VR isn’t going to match the clarity of a PS5 game on a good 4K tv, you will be fine. VR can be amazing and frequently is. I was a jaded gamer and was starting to fall out of love with games after a life long history with them and VR ignited thats park again. Being inside these games was just incredible and now, my passion is back for gaming (I bought a PS5 and I’m buying the new headset at some point.) |

For me, Astrobot Missions VR and Moss were two of my favorites. Drive Club was decent and you're right in the car, but motion sickness was my limitation, aside from the lower resolution jagged edges of that game more than most other games. Some games suffer from jagged edges more than others sadly. But good point that this is splitting the resolution with two cameras for stereo 3D, which taxes the PS5 twice as much, requiring a reduction in resolution since games MUST be 60 fps more faster in PSVR1 and PSVR2 minimum as required by the headset and for no lag which could cause dizziness faster. Are you planning to buy a PSVR2 soon? I'm going to wait for a bigger library of games and a price cut. $599.99 is too much for any add on device IMO. $250 I can live with, considering I only found a few real must-keep games on PSVR1 among hundreds of just okay VR games. I'm a bit curious about GT7 using VR.
(1) can you use the controller that came with console or do you have to use the VR2 sense controller? I have seen YouTube reviews using the steering wheel, but I wanted to make sure I didn't have to hold my arms our front as if I'm grabbing a steering wheel(sounds tiresome) in VR. ******EDIT***** Just seen a YouTube review that shows someone using the dual sense controller.... ok, that answers that question (2) can you change the view? Of course the point of VR is being inside the car, but I've always had the view right out front, not inside of car... I will more than likely play inside the car, but was curious of changing view is possible. Last edited by superpacman; 02-27-2023 at 04:07 AM. |

This is such a huge upgrade from PSVR. Totally incredible. I think most people have difficulty getting the headset properly set. It took me several hours to find the sweet spot. Once you lock it in the VR is incredible. Freedom of movement is amazing and sense controllers are a revolution.
Just my opinion but as long as the software keeps coming this is a huge win. Such a great addition to PS5 |

Update with more impressions.
I haven't finished Horizon Call of the Mountain yet, but, frankly, I am tired of it. I can only climb for so long before the wonder of it all wears off. I had to give it a rest. I have, however started Moss Book I and finished that entire game on Saturday. So, I decided to start Moss Book II. Finished that today. Still, my absolute favorite VR experience to date. I really hope that Polyarc continues this series or some kind of Spin-off. Amazing! Played a couple levels of Thumper. It definitely looks better (higher resolution and frame rate) than it did on the PS VR. I feel like the joystick on the PS VR2 left controller is way more accurate than the Dual Shock controller was on the PS4. I had to switch to the D-pad on that for this game. Otherwise, the game was the exact same. I keep saying that GT7 will be my next game to test. I need to just do it. I am just afraid that it may make me feel sick. However, most of the reviews say this is the best game for the PS VR2. I still need to try RE Village too. Otherwise, I am liking it better now that I have played several hours. Screen door definitely exists (this is due to the pixel pattern Sony uses on their headsets). Blurring occurs if you're not looking at the center of the lenses. So, instead of using my eyeballs to look in a certain direction, I turn my head so my eyes are still looking in the center of the lens. Kind of a bummer. This is especially apparent when there is white text floating in black space. Yes, I have cleaned the lenses, recalibrated, IPD, etc. It's just a limitation of the hardware. Still need Half-Life Alyx and 3D Blu-ray support for this headset to be worth $599. |

I thought the same thing since I’m pretty prone to motion sickness (for whatever reason even 1st person games make me feel iffy after a while although I can play 3rd person endlessly and feel fine) but GT7 hasn’t given me the slightest motion sickness yet.

I picked up Synth Riders and Pistol Whip this weekend. I like both games a lot. At this point I think I like Synth Riders more than Beat Saber.
I downloaded all the demos and gave several of them a try this weekend. The football game was fun for about 5 minutes and then I was bored with it and it crashed on me. I played the Star Wars demo, and for the first time on the PSVR2, I got nauseated. None of the other games have bothered me at all. I also played No Mans Sky for a little bit. Not sure if I am going to like that game or not. I am on the first planet and was collecting stuff to get the space ship working. I plan on spending more time and getting off the first planet before I judge the game. |

Based on a some info below, it sounds like there is a 3rd person view too surprisingly in GT7 VR. If so, that's cool. Quote:

I heard people say the odds of Half Life Alyx being ported to PSVR2 are very slim, as it would take Sony a lot of pull/money to convince Valve to allow their property off of their Steam Powered money making website. So far, complete silence sadly... Surprised Horizon VR has so much climbing. How do you like the combat? Do the human people look smaller than life-size, like the people in Skyrim VR and most other PSVR1 games that didn't get the scale right, probably due to the wider interaxial distance between the 3D cameras? I am really surprised you haven't jumped fully into GT7 VR yet, considering your full driving rig which would be very immersive for VR. In Driveclub VR, I just rest my head against the back rest of the chair, and only look forward. I'm able to complete races that way. Otherwise, I mostly just drive slower and sight-see in that game, though the jagged edges are rough in that one on PSVR1. If I try to look around while driving in Driveclub VR, I start feeling dizzy, but in a real car while steering, no issue. That's good, glad to hear it lets you play 3rd person view too. |

Okay, I misread a post about 3rd person and GT7 by skimming through it too fast. From what I've seen of all GT7 VR game play, it looks like there is not a 3rd person view. That was the case with GT Sport VR too I believe, and Drive Club VR. Interior view only, to keep with the theme.
Much like No Man's Sky VR completely eliminates the 3rd person view, along with Skyrim VR. It stinks because some players want 3rd person view as a choice, myself included. |

You know what'd funny about this, about 6 to 9 months ago, it was heavily rumored to be coming to PS VR2. Everybody was saying it was inevitable. One would think that Valve would want to sell more copies of the game since the Valve Index isn't the top seller by any means.

[Show spoiler] As for scale, Aloy is super short, but it's intended. The others are normal size. I think they got scale right. Combat isn't bad and can be challenging, but I think I'm 80 to 90% done with the game and I think I've had 3 combat sessions. More of these would break up the monotony of climbing. Sheesh. |
