There is a person that has a number of UHD patterns/test for sale, available via download. Have not done it myself and will need to look it up again.

For your Oppo, did you get the internal or external region mod?

Edit: Pattern Info here and here.
I would be interested when a calibration disc for our new 4K TVs exists that includes Dolby Vision metrics. The Diversified Video Solutions link made me chuckle a little at their greed. They want $40 to download their test patterns or $85 to have them sent to you on a disc. That's a pretty steep mark-up for the identical product on a disc. Currently, the disc is sold out and a new version is coming this fall, so clearly people like buying even their test patterns on disc.

I bought this mod kit; it can be installed either internally or externally. I plan to have mine externally attached in case there is ever any need to detach it. It is just a lot easier, IMO. Installation and usage instructions were emailed to me in the form of a pdf attachment.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/160942653070

It ships from California via 1st Class mail; I received a shipping notice the same day I ordered it. Available quantities are low, but I do not know if that means they are about to be sold out permanently or if it is just a temporary low stock situation. Of all the mod kits mentioned in the Oppo 203 thread, this is the most economical by far at just $58 and that price included the shipping.

Can we please take this to the appropriate area of the forum, a PM or better yet, the AVS Forum? None of the recent posts have to do with the topic of the thread.

Started to comment but I thought it may be better to not stir that pot. But it is pretty .

I only just watched this video which shows some Blu-ray & DVD combi packs in VHS packaging. The releases shown here are from HMV in the UK. The video says that there are other releases of Blu-ray titles in VHS packaging being sold from Target in the US & JB Hi-Fi in Australia. I have to admit the retro packaging looks really nice IMO. The supposed "VHS" tape in it is not real though; it's made out of cardboard to store the discs & the other extras.

As cool as that is Dublin, there’s a thread for that too. Seriously gang, if you aren’t going to discuss Digital or Physical why don’t you start another thread in the General Chat Forum

I was visiting the thread for A Few Good Men 4K yesterday only to find that every 4K movie except it was being discussed. All threads get off track and they do so quite often, but they almost always return to the intended topic.

I think threads go off topic because people become comfortable talking to a given thread's regular contributors and, before you know it, any and everything gets discussed. They know they will find the people they like to converse with frequenting certain threads, so that's where they go.

I think the best way to get a thread back on topic is to post your own on topic comment. Grab the wheel and gently steer the conversation back to the thread's subject. People will then likely discuss the on topic comment you just made.

Being the self-appointed thread police is not a very fun job. People generally do not like being told what to do no matter how diplomatically they are told and especially when the person doing the telling is in no particular position of authority to do so. There is nothing I can find in the actual forum rules that forbids straying off topic. I do not mean that to sound like a criticism- all of this is just my opinion after all, but it is human nature to resist such unwanted "instruction." The more you tell someone not to do something, the more they want to do exactly that.

Case in point, I now want to share my favorite recipes for toll house chocolate chip cookies and French toast right here! Someone better post something on topic, and quick, or this thread will become a recipe exchange thread.

I think it just echoes real life conversation when in a crowd. Conversations are diverted all the time. It’s sort of a natural flow.

Anyway, I watched GOTG2 on Blu-ray 3D last week and it was astounding. The clarity, the depth, the colours, the compression was superb considering the many elements at play. I thought to myself, if streaming is the future, this is just not going to be possible. I hope disc only dies when I do.

Micro modding is definitely not fun. I’ll give you that Vilya. So I’ll try to keep this as brief as I can. Here’s the forum rules. Which we’re all guilty of skirting from time to time and currently violating. I think the problem in a nutshell is that it has only been a few of you for so long that you’ve grown accustom to the sounds of your own voices.

Because now some of you are under the impression it’s your thread to discuss anything and everything. Then when someone points it out you mask your mob mentality in a humorous, canned response. Which tends to drive off anyone who tries to contribute and get the thread back on track. I think that’s where Steedeel might be on to something with the too many egos. Mine included.

I agree. Marvel has been knocking it out of the park with their 3D presentations. Both Thor Ragnarok and Black Panther are reference quality as well. So of course Disney stops releasing them in the U.S. At least importing them is easy enough.

I have resisted updating my MCU collection to 4K, but got GotG Vol. 2 3D/4K combo and am getting Infinity War in both as well. I will upgrade the rest when they release the "Infinity" Boxset mega collection with all of them in 4K. I'm sure it will come

I have read those forum rules a few times. I still do not see any rule that forbids straying off topic. Maybe I have a form of myopia here, but I don't see which rule applies. No rule means no violation. This happens in almost every thread I visit. Despite what that might imply, I am not responsible for every foray into unsanctioned territory. People post off topic constantly and in many, many threads. If you want to correct them all, have at it, but you will be very, very busy and I suspect you will meet some strong resistance.

They can use you over in that A Few Good Men 4k thread when you're done policing this one; they have been off topic for at least a week. Better respond with sirens and lights! It's anarchy, I tells ya!

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post15365148

I do not feel my response to you earlier in any way represents a "mob mentality" nor do I feel my reply was "canned." I put some effort into most of my replies. What's wrong with a little humor? I was not trying to "mask" anything, but rather I thought the use of a little mild humor would show I was not being adversarial in my reply to you, nothing more.

Why would a couple of side discussions about TV calibration, region free mod kits, and cool retro movie packaging drive anyone away? These are not controversial subjects.

What's the harm in wanting to converse with the same people whose comments you typically like reading and about whatever subject comes to mind? You are one of those people that many of us enjoying conversing with here, even about the selection of merlot as a home decorating color. Even you go off topic when you want to and I do not recall anyone taking you to task for it.

I still believe the best way to get back on topic is to post something on topic yourself. If you expect people's posting behavior to change to suit you, you will likely be disappointed in this thread and many others. Do not fail to notice also that no one is complaining about this but you.

I do love 3D movies! I buy them from all over the world. When the 3D is well done, they are just incredible fun. I routinely choose 3D over 4K editions.

Streaming and digital appears to have very little, if any, interest in supporting 3D, so that's just one more reason on a long list of reasons why I will always prefer physical media.

I've never seen a 3D movie available on Vudu or any other streaming retailer, though I've heard they have them. But like you, disc will always be my go to format.

Vudu does have a whole section of 3D movies here:

I have no idea how good the 3D quality is on these though. And some of the prices are really high.

Wow, I didn't realize they had that many. Thanks for the info.

As I said, I will stick to disc. But it does raise the question of why the digital copies with my 3D discs do not include the 3D version digitally. That's why I had not seen them before.

Yeah, I agree that if you buy the 3D disc, it should include a code that gives you the 3D version of the movie on digital.

3D fans are used to being price gouged, but I think someone on this thread said that 3D streaming was of particular poor quality. Has anyone streamed 3D content and can speak to that?
