I havnt seen Body Heat. I was a Kathleen Turner fan in the 80's though. I still need to add Romancing the Stone & Jewel of the Nile to my collection. Got Em!!

I think it was released in the movies if Im not mistaken. Dont know how well it did but I believe so. Im sure it isnt as good as the first one although I havnt seen either. Haha! Got Em!!

Tonight, I watched another fine blind-buy, "The Shinjuku Incident" UK Import. Not as much action (not even any martial arts really), but it's a really interesting crime drama / gangster film with a decent group of characters. I loved its style; the camera was steady and solid, the colors were vivid, and the cityscapes were slick (stylistically similar to a movie like "Kill Zone"). The story, especially in regards to the idea of a lower-class man trying to find redemption and an ethical escape from criminal life, reminded me a bit of "Carlito's Way." But the subject matter regarding illegal immigrants and the issues surrounding them added more to the story/themes/characters as well. I really liked it; a solid 4/5, and a definite keeper.

And the Blu-Ray was gorgeous!

This movie is simply amazing and it is not easily understood from the first viewing, which is a huge plus for me.
Even today people are discussing what really happened in the movie, see it and be bewildered!

Fight Club

Film: 2/5
-overall, the film was trying way too hard to seem intellectual. for example, norton's narration was beyond laughable, with intricate details you wouldn't hear in a psychiatry seminar and commentary on the intricacies of appliance outlets. in general, the film was like using a calculator to compute 2+2=4. i just felt it did way more than it needed to.
-some of the philosophy (re: not being a slave to your job, and avoiding materialism, etc) are valid by themselves, but just not in this film, as

-the acting and direction was good, but i just felt that the plot was an ideological mess.
-among the most overrated films i've ever seen, as i know some people consider it among the greatest of all time. i can see how some people think its great, however. but its just not for me.
-it seems that i dont like any of fincher's films (CCOBB, Fight Club or Zodiac). not sure why. oh well. can't love everything.

PQ and AQ are fantastic!! great transfer!!

yeah, i dont know, i've tried to get into Fincher's movies, but just cant.
in reflection, i think that I probably would have enjoyed Fight Club more, had it not been put on a pedestal, but, hey, i cant love everything
