Eh, I'll probably pass unless I hear good things. The film's main problem was it's slow pacing and endless filler scenes. I can only imagine the extended cut will be more of the same, if not slower. If they were worthy scenes they would have made the movie because they were looking to looking to extend the film anyways after forcing it into a trilogy.

True, but at the same time I don't know if the general public would have the attention span for a 3+ hour film.

ALSO...

The prologue in FOTR is from Galadriel's perspective...so even more reason for it to stay the way it is. Perhaps this is how she perceives Bilbo...

Default I don't believe the listing...

I don't believe the listing primarily because of one fact. WB fully supports UV and NOT itunes digital copy. That alone should say something. Either that or someone made a mistake when listing the item.

Pretty dumb reason.

There has to be an announcement soon given that Warner are putting out press releases for most of their November titles at the minute. I imagine they're just trying to maximise sales of the theatrical edition, knowing an announcement would harm them somewhat. I expect we'll hear something in the next two weeks, especially given that Jackson has now finished filming.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but Amazon UK has a "Premium Bilbo's Trunk Edition". This will more than likely be the extended edition packed in a collectible packaging. It's just a sign-up page currently.

Since there were trailers for the Extended Editions of the LOTR trilogy, I expect they're probably prepping a trailer for this as well to go along with the announcement.

I wonder if they will try to have the packaging match the packaging from the LOTR EE trilogy set.

I would also like for this to happen but I realize we are dealing with marketing departments for movie studios so it will probably not be anywhere close.

No, i know. Would be nice though. I'd like to see it with silver instead of gold. That would be cool.

Part of me wants to see the simplistic design they originally gave the LOTR EE DVD's, but that wouldn't really match the gold Blu-Ray set so not sure what I want.

The black disc cases would be nice, just like the LOTR EEs. But I do hope this gets an official release date soon (along with the full runtime of the extended cut and list of extras.)

I'm thinking of waiting for a box set consisting of Extended LOTR and Hobbit movies. I have the theatrical editions of LOTR and Hobbit.
