Default Van Damme Forever

Fully agree. At his best, which is fairly often, the mature Van Damme holds the screen with a kind of mesmerizing melancholy - light years ahead of his onetime competitors. He should have won the Oscar for JCVD. What a performance!
I've always loved "Legionnaire" and it's the Van Damme movie I'd most like to see on Region 1 Blu-ray. Of his 21st century titles, the ones I prize most include "JCVD", "Replicant", "Pound of Flesh". "Assassination Games" and "6 Bullets". As far as I know, the last two have never had domestic Blu-rays. He's a terrific villain in "Enemies Closer" and I'd have to say "The Bouncer" is a more than worthy addition to his filmography. He brings his own distinctively personal poetry to the screen. I always thought he'd have made a great Athos (the melancholy, reflective member of the three musketeers).

It's adequate PQ and AQ wise, worth it for Maximum Risk and at a great price

Anyone interested, the new German remaster of Knock Off is quite nice. I think it is likely from a print rather than a negative or interpositive. The lossless 5.1 is nice an clear.

I love that movie. I always get a good laugh out of it. And his action in it is so spectacular. Rob Schneider works well with him too. Solid.

Sudden Death is being re-released on March 20th. Probably same disc as before, just no digital code.

Default JCVD blu-rays

You guys wanna see a pile of Van Damme Blus? :-)

There are several doubles here. I'm always on the lookout for better versions from different countries, so I wind up with multiples. (And those Wake of Death Black Editions and MVD Lionhearts are identical, I just put them all in there.)

The Shepherd is still DVD only. I don't believe it's been released on Blu anywhere?

It was only when I started pulling the discs from my shelves that I realised just how many Van Damme Blus I had. They were scattered around my shelves, sorted by studio. I'll be keeping them together from now on.

Here they are, laid out on the table.

The only reason I started pulling these from the shelves was because I was doing a custom insert "Van Damme Collection" set for them. I'll show that in a later post, or you can check out the Custom Cover sticky thread on this forum. (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=24446)

Impressive! Now if we only got new 2k/4k scans on the top 20% of those I would be happy. Most doesn't look so good.

Lionsgate (apparently) has the rights and never released it with their past Van Damme offerings.

Dont know if this has been mentioned, but you are doing yourself a disservice if you haven't watched Jean Claude Van Johnson. I watched this over Xmas and lmao. It feels like one long movie at 6 episodes and it is well written. Whomever thought of the storyline is a genius and I hope we get a 4K blu one day and maybe a new chapter in what should have been a series. It is still on Prime, if you haven't seen it.

For those in the states who have region free players, it looks like Van Damme's KNOCK OFF is coming to blu in the UK via 88 Films on September 28th.

Hello fellow Van Damme fans :-)

These are custom inserts I've made for all the JCVD feature films that you can print yourself.

I left the specifics of extras and audio/video specs intentionally vague so people can pair these with whichever edition they may have.

PM me for download links to the printable files.

JCVD films have been shown with not much love on Blu Ray, he still as a very big fan base me included, His early films Bloodsport, kickboxer, Timecop etc all deserve special editions with extras, new scans, come on someone release them again.

Yeah the best ones should have a solid fanbase so wonder why no one does it. Maybe the licensing is too expensive for new scans? Heard many owners just expect to much money from older stuff. I would hold over a few years just to have 4K of kickboxer and Bloodsport

Anyone know who owns the rights in US respective europe for those two? Still warner and Lionsgate? Hell Warner even got us Action Jackson from 88 in pretty damn good shape and that is so much worse film than JCs.

I finally watched Double Team yesterday (each prior attempt has resulted in my falling asleep). It was not good. I watched Maximum Risk afterwards, though, and thought it was a good'un. What's the consensus on The Hard Corps and Second in Command? Those are the two other films in the Mill Creek pack that I still need to watch.
