Arrow transfer is based on a 4K scan but the restoration etc. was done in 2K
That's why Turbine used a different transfer for the 4K UHD (from Universal) while the also included BD is using the Arrow transfer |

Boom. Put Brokkoli in charge. Besides, regardless of all the “what resolution was the restoration/remastering done in?” stuff, Dxtra30 specifically said he’s collecting 4K discs. Arrow’s lovely release is a 1080p Blu-ray.

I can't seem to find a thread for the Turbine limited edition 4K four disc set. My question is in regards to the content of the 4K UHD. My disc contains the English and German audio options and one trailer on it. However, HighDefDigest states it should contain the following:
Ultra HD Disc Audio Commentaries: Two commentaries with the first featuring actors David Naughton and Griffin Dunne while the second is filmmaker Paul Davis sharing various factoids. Trailers (HD): Three previews are joined by two TV commercials and five radio spots. The link for the above information is https://ultrahd.highdefdigest.com/90...rayimport.html This is rather odd because it appears they reviewed the actual item itself. It would greatly appreciate it if someone that owns this set can confirm whether or not their 4K UHD disc has these extras. Note these extras are on the Blu-ray disc, just not the 4K UHD. |

Well, I managed to pick version A up off Ebay for a few pounds over the original RRP.
Of course, the question remains, why can a small company produce a 4k + HDR transfer but the original motion picture studios can't...I'm guessing they'd rather be lazy and push to streaming than take the time to do a 4k remaster from the original negs, cos hey, $$$$.... |

Don't mean to bump such an old thread, but the standard version is currently $11.98 plus a 10% off coupon on Amazon. I've been wanting the 4k, but don't feel like ponying up. The standard Arrow version was $11.74 with tax, out the door with that coupon applied. I'll happily settle for 1080p at that price and finally dump my old Universal Blu.
Just wanted to ring the alarm for anyone who might not notice. |

Picked it up at that price! Was waiting on the 4K as well but happy to take it at under $15
And for anyone that still wants it at the discount, Amazon was price matching Walmart who still has it available for that price https://www.walmart.com/ip/613140968...4-0b65aa5494ab Last edited by jokercard; 03-19-2025 at 05:24 PM. |
