Does that mean that any of those industries you've mentioned have been "destroyed" or are in the process of being "destroyed?" No. Obviously. I mean, heck, look at the films that came out or are coming out this year. Amazing!
Well as someone who works in and have been around the music business my whole life I can guarantee you that it is on life support. Theaters and movies have also never been this low in a while. Adjust for inflation and you will see the numbers.

We shouldn't have to know everything up front, but the internet has given people a complex and they think they have to know what's going on. It's sad, in my opinion. You guys hate the mystery box, I get it. But I see it as Abrams trying to preserve the filmgoing experience that he had growing up, and one many of us shared as well.

Look, I get where you guys are coming from. But for me, and my money, I love the spoilers and much prefer a transparent director ( a la Peter Jackson) to a tight-lipped one. If the info coming out takes someone like "Spoilerman" to do it, more power to him.

I've known quite a few scripts backwards and forwards before the finished script was announced to the public, and reading a spoiler, knowing a script and (for me...imho) actually watching it play out on the screen are two different things.

I don't have the connections to Disney or Lucasfilm that I have to another studio, but I am so intrigued by the upcoming film, the direction they are going and the tidbits that have been revealed, that I will take as much as they (or Spoilerman) are willing to share. And it doesn't bother me one, single, little bit that JJ might be losing sleep over it.

I won't ever go as far as reading a whole script before again (inglorious basterds will never be as good as that final draft) BUT I can't stay away from little details likè these.

Honestly, if knowing who Max Von Sydow is playing ruins the movie then it was probably not going to be good anyways. Even spoiler man said it is not that major and only hardcore fans will notice. If that is the case then it is really pointless info in the grand scheme.

But something being destroyed and something being disrupted so that it changes are two different things entirely.

I used to go to the theater all the time decades ago. Now? Hardly at all. BUT, that doesn't mean that I'm spending less money annually (even accounting for inflation) when it comes to the film industry. Between all the money I spend renting from Amazon, or watching stuff On-Demand, or what I pay for HBO, or buying Blu-Rays blind, etc. -- I am probably paying MORE per year.

Now sure, the industry is different. But change is the only constant over time, as we all know.

I have seen, unless I'm forgetting something, I've seen a grand total of three movies in the theater this year (Gone Girl, Interstellar, and Mockingjay). But adding all those other expenditures in, we're talking many thousands of dollars spent.

*shrug*

If the new film does revolve around new Jedi and Sith can someone explain Midichlorians to me? If I remember from the Prequels (I don't hate myself enough to rewatch them) Qui Gon tell Anakin that they are symbiotic beings that reside in all living things and without them we (characters) wouldn't know the force. So if every living thing has Midichlorians in their blood wouldn't everyone be force sensitive to some degree? With training couldn't Jar Jar Binks become a Jedi Master?

In this case it may be the sheer number of midichlorians that someone has compared to another. Anakin's level was higher than even Yoda's so he had the potential to be the most powerful of all but his dumb head and lack of discipline got in the way. It's like super talented athletes who could go as far as they want to but due to immaturity and bad decisions, they screw it up.
At least that's how I understood it.

Maybe he already is and he's using his jedi mind tricks to keep everyone from killing him on sight.

Reading the spoilers has only increased my interest in the film; the teaser sure as hell didn't give me any confidence.

What I don't want to be spoiled on are visuals, like what Serkis' species looks like.

JJ Abrams should have learned that lesson a long time ago. The tighter you cling to secrets about what you're doing, the more easy you make it for staff, fans and the media to leak that information. Abrams needs to let up on all this secrecy nonsense. IN that fashion, the man is a complete moron. While I understand the need to keep some things hidden from the public, just how the hell is casting and the characters they portray considered to be secret? JJ needs to lighten up and start releasing behind the scenes information and at least satisfy some of the fans for what they want to know about the film. Hell, by now, we should have already seen a brief 'synopsis preview' about the film. These are typically released by studios who want movie fans to know what a movie is going to be about. These are the same synopsis previews that you see in the weekend entertainment movie section of your local newspaper.

From JJ? He gives everyone the middle finger and remarks with a few expletives and the kind of security that the NSA would be proud of.

In the Making of Return of the Jedi George says that anyone can become a Jedi, it's just a taught skill. Yoda isn't a Jedi warrior he's just a teacher (which contradicts The Empire Strike Back) and not a Jedi. Fantastic book!

I kind of read it as people with psychic powers (in science-fiction) have higher ratings than those that very little. Anakin had the highest rating. But all people can tune into their abilities to some degree. Even if it's in an abstract way.

I never said NSA security was superior, I merely said that the NSA would be jealous of JJ Abrams approach to security.
